This is brand new... on depressing review...

There are some annoying comments, but all in all its not bad IMO - Apart that they don't mention the price tag on the lens, which is cheaper than all the other brands'

What do you guys think?

I have never had any problems in central London shooting with tripod. As Hefty and Don said, you shouldn';t be obstructing the traffic, but apart from that you shouldn't have issues.

If you are interested in night photography, you can drive pretty much everywhere, and there is very little traffic in the city later at night. Say about 10:30 / 11 on a weeknight its brilliant times for shooting!

Warm clothes, and somebody helping you, as it can be dangerous....

If you wanna meet up for a shoot, let me know I might be interested!

Pete, I apologize to whoever feels I have been dismissive, it really was not my intention to offend anybody here.

I gave my personal opinion, which comes from personal experience. I honestly think that giving opinions on things we don't know is pointless, and I try not to do it myself.

Your posts are always justified and this needn't mentioning.

I think that you have raised an issue that has little to do with my previous posts. I made a point about the importance of the market in the choice of a lens - it was not referred to the pentax user market, but to photography in a wider sense. Resolution charts are really not my concern.

I also like 'people' to be able to choose freely, and with as much information as possible, yet I argue that criticizing something without having experienced it, only damages the product, or brand.

I hope you are as happy with your Tamron as I am with the DA*, because this is what its all about!

Good night,
Nathan

Pete,

The world of photography is not made around the Pentax 16-45 mm lens. The comparison is very relevant to the point I am making, which is one that doesn't only look at Pentax, but at the wider market.

I am very happy that you like your lens, the 16-45. I will still say that its pointless to criticize a lens that you don't have, or haven't used extensively.

I made my points very clear in the many posts I wrote, and I will also say that I don't work with review charts, I work in the real world. BTW, I haven't said anything against the 16-45, I was only defending a fantastic lens, that is being criticized pointlessly.

Spider (btw I would love to know your name... )

I am arrogant enough (sorry :blush to stand my grounds, I am happy that you are not willing to debate any further!!!!!!!!!

My personal experience is reinforced by the fact that I bought my lens from SRS, and it was indeed not perfect. Mine had a small particle of dust inside the front element. I sent it back to Chris, and in 2 days time I had a new copy. Problem solved. And since, great pleasure in using it!

I will actually be in Leeds at the end of March, and I will have some kit with me, so if you want... I am more than happy to meet and let you play with the lens

Vodoo scares the crap out of me, so please only do it on Chris, who's clearly used to it (See the late thread about meeting in reading... )

Don, I have been wanting a bike for years now, but I can't even think of buying one... very envious....
