Looking into the lens below:

Pentax DA 10-17/3.5-4.5 Fish-Eye ED

Just wondering if anyone has used this in low light situations and if so how well it performed. Specifically I take snaps at rock concerts, in very low light and with fast moving subjects. Less than ideal conditions for a slow reaction lens !

Thanks in advance,

George.

Hi,

I'm thinking of getting a Jessops 300AFDP flash unit for my K10D.
Just wondering if anyone has this flash, and if so how it performs.

Many thanks in advance.

George.

Thank you all for the very warm welcome.

Like Vikram, it was the high cost of film processing combined with falling digital camera prices which finally made me make the jump from film to SD card.

Looking forward to many years of contribution to the forum.

Cheers,

George.

Hi all,

My name is George Curran, from Dublin Ireland, and I've recently joined the Forum.

I've just purchased a 2nd hand K10D (via the Forum) and it arrived yesterday!! (Thanks Piotr). Finger's crossed for some decent weather at the weekend, so that I can try out my new "toy".

Prior to jumping into the "digital age" I had been using a Pentax SFXn 35mm film camera which I have had since 1989. I used this extensively through the 1990s, particularly for taking photos at music concerts (bands). But recently I haven't had the free time (until now) to fully indulge my love of photography.

Looking forward to happy snapping again and to uploading a few shots to the Gallery.

Thanks,

George.

And if paid by bank transfer this K10D plus 18-55mm lens plus a spare battery (not an original pentax) could be yours for 280 GBP delivered (to UK).
I'm also open for offers.

As for the 18-55 mkII, probably the best standard lens out there, see this thread
Thanks Hardgravity,

Seeing those shots taken with the 18-55 mkII on that thread makes me want to rush out and get one! Though I think I better settle on a DSLR body first and then see how the budget stretches.

Best regards,

George.

Wow!

Thank you all for your helpful and prompt replies. I can see that this is a great Forum.

That's good news indeed re. the lens compatibility - now just to decide on a DSLR camera body.

The 42mm - 120mm will do me just fine for most of the stuff I want, but I will look into that Pentax-DA 18-55mm II, as recommended by iceblinker. I take a good few shots of rock bands, so a wider angle always looks nice.

Many thanks again,

George.

Hi all,

Hopefully someone will be able to answer this question for me.

I currently use a 35mm film SLR - the Pentax SFXn, which I've owned for the last 20 years! However I'd like to move over (finally) to a digital camera. If I were to purchase a Pentax DSLR body (e.g. a K10D or K20D), then could I use my existing Pentax lens from my 35mm SLR. The lens is a Pentax-F 28mm-80mm AF lens.

Hope this makes sense.

Thanks,

George.
