Thanks for all the information and advice guys.
All very useful.

😀

Good enough to print at 300dpi they say.

Thanks.

I know a few of the shops but most just do "bog standard" scans - suitable for web or looking at on the PC but not print quality.
I think I'll drop them an email to see if they do drum scanning.
I also found this shop who still use a Kodak Pakon F135F, which is apparently great for scanning B&W negs:

Hi Jak,

It could be 12-20 photos.
The printing will be done in Germany.

I'll be sending digital files to a fried in Germany who's compiling a photo-book of concert photography from the 1990s.

After a little research I see recommendations for "drum scanning" so now looking into providers here or mail-order.

Hi all,

I have some old negatives (from the 1990s) that I want to get scanned.
Some were taken on standard B&W film and some are on Ilford Xp2 (i.e. C41 process).

Any suggestions as to where to get them scanned?
They need to be hi-res as they are for a publication.

I'm based in Dublin, Ireland so local or a company that would do mail-order would be best.

Thanks in advance.

George.

Sigma 17-70 now €140 / £120

Hi all,

I’m selling a couple of items that I no longer have much use for.

Metz 58 AF-1 Flash.

I bought this a number of years ago but it hasn’t been much used since the initial purchase. It is in immaculate condition (like new) and comes boxed with stand and (well thumbed) user manual.

There is some useful information on the flash and it’s capabilities on the following links:

http://pttl.mattdm.org/models:metz:58-af-1

http://www.pentaxforums.com/reviews/metz-58-af-1-flash/review.html

Photos can be provided if required.

I’m looking for Euro €200 / GBP £178.
The price includes delivery within the EU.

Sigma 17-70 F 2.8-4.5 DC Macro.

This is the non-HSM version. I bought this new a number of years ago and it proved to be a fantastic “walk around” lens. It is in immaculate condition (like new) and comes boxed.

Also included in the sale:

• Skylight 1A filter – this has been on the lens from day 1 to protect against scratches, dust etc
• Lowepro pouch – handy and sturdy pouch to keep your lens safe and clean.
• Lens hood.
• 2 X Lens caps.

There is some useful information on Sigma lens on the following link:

Photos can be provided if required.

I’m looking for Euro €170 / GBP £151.

Happy to answer any questions in relation to the above items.
I prefer payment by PayPal.
