I think the CRV3's last a little longer than the Lithium AAs, but certainly no where near the price difference!

I haven't tried the later versions with my DL2, but Pentax deffinitly put more effort into limiting which cameras work with RA as time went on.

If you want to keep using RA, don't upgrade the firmware on your DL2, the firmware update which allows SDHC cards also disables RA compatibility.

If you are still buying alkaline batteries, you should think about investing in a set of Sanyo Eneloop (or similar) rechargeables. Cheap as chips nowadays and far superior power/life to alkalines. Once charged, they hold 80% of their charge for a year.

Check here. But if you are thinking of upgrading to a K10/20D or K-7 any time soon, don't waste your money on these. All those cameras have a proprietary battery.
Standard AA's don't last in this camera! I've been using Lithium CRV3's for as long as I can remember and always carry a spare full set in the bag. The major advantage with a camera that "will" take AA's is of course that should you get caught out, they can be obtained anywhere. I generally have to replace batteries twice a year.

I did try a set of rechargeable batteries but they only lasted marginally longer than a standard AA. I would have tried lithium rechargeable sets, but according to the manual, that is a no-no.

Batteries are the one thing that has stopped me "upgrading".
One way or another, you are paying too much for your batteries!

3 sets of Lithium AAs for less than you are currently paying for 1!!!

As for re-chargables, I've never got on with Eneloops, Hybrios and similar types. In my camera standard 7DayShop badged NiMH 2700s last longer than anything other than Lithium single use.

I got 7, found the 3rd bar the hardest to do. I got the first and last bars perfect, 3 mistakes in the second and 4 in the third

Edit: Actually, I just had another fiddle and in fact both my mistakes were in the 2nd row, even though I thought the 3rd row was harder I eventually got it right. Apparently 2 mistakes is worth a score of 7, I'm sure theres a reason for that which is currently escaping me.

certainly cleverer than having a whole camera up your arm, but still not for me!!

Also, is it the shot or does his 77 ltd have some centering issues?

To be honest I don't think the screen is good enough for any one to judge if the photo is good or not so like George said why bother.
buy a bigger card and keep your eyes on the subject, you will be loosing quite a lot of shot while looking at your screen judging the photo is good or not
I agree with this, I missed a lot of unexpected happenings because I was looking at the previous shot trying to decide if it was any good or not. I have now turned off the auto review on my K10D altogther.

depending on where else they have ended up, I carry between 4 and 8 1gb Sandisk Ultra II and Extreme III cards in a 7DayShop hard case. It just lives in the front of my camera bag.

I almost never need that many of course, but I like to have more than I plan to use so I never run out.

The read-write enable tab fell off of an Ultra-II once, but other than that no failures yet.

I've tended to leave SR on except when on a solid tripod. I've never noticed it introducing extra blur, although I've never done any scientific tests.
