John's suggestion is good as well but brick walls have ready made texture and don't move (often).

Mike
well at least, if they do then you have problems which are more pressing than lens sharpness!!

3200 ISO is no longer considered as unusual though. When I referred to "high ISO" I was really referring to the ridiculous 128,000 ISO sort of figures, which I do think are not necessary.
top ISO on the 1D Mk4 (102,000ish) is 5 stops faster than 3200.

I've shot fencing competitions in gyms where ISO 3200 gave me 1/125th at F1.7. With a 1D Mk4 (or preferably a Pentax with the same ISO capability!) I could have shot at ~ 1/500th and F4.5, dropping motion stopping shutter speeds into the aperture range of the DA 16-45 instead of making a 50 prime my only choice.

The difference between a DSLR capable of ISO 102,000 and a film SLR loaded with ISO 1250 film is with the DSLR you can step into the dark and crank the ISO up, step back out into the light and turn it down again.

It's useful to people who shoot Canon FD film cameras, and sadly not many other people. I think a FD lens to 4/3 body adaptor might be technically feasable but I don't know if one is actually made.

The registration distance is too short for mounting on anything other than 4/3 without loosing infinity focus

I have a similar problem actually, I can't figure out the correct developer chemistry for my Sandisk Ultra II cards.

I've always liked the Canon ones from 7dayshop, £12.99 for OEM build quality. Much better than the cheapo Hama and Chinese ones.

mmm see I had the ears on the right with the nose pointing up and to the left, howling at something (probably the moon).

Really like the shot, the framing is lovely.

I need 1.04, as I still cant get a 24 exposure film to load!!! Grrrrr.
you have to cut it up into little pieces so it will fit through the slot in the right hand side of the camera.

I have a 50mm f1.7 bought second hand from eBay and to be honest, although the shallow DOF and speed of it is brilliant, I have been told by quite a few people who has seen photos taken with it that its not very sharp. The photos have been taken at around f8-f11, so right in the sweet spot, but even when enlarged, I tend to agree. There is a softness or a lack of focus and I am wondering if the lens has some kind of abberation in it. I am tempted to buy another, but I don't want the same thing to happen again. So, just beware where you are buying from and the quality you are getting. I am going to do a test back to back with the 18-55mm kit lens for sharpness, but the speed is a factor there....
with respect I would suggest that if you aren't getting sharp shots with the 50 F1.7 then you are doing something wrong, or you have an extremely bad copy. Even the lowly 50 F2 is tack sharp at those apertures.

Anyway......

I still tihnk my camera is a form of computer
as far as any meaningful technical deffinition goes, it undeniably is an example of a programable electronic computer optimised to perform a specific task.

Whether it would be considered such for legal purposes I still believe would come down to who paid the most for their lawyer.

as an aside, I would like to thank PentaxRocks for having the courage to give us the police officers view of matters pertaining to photography. There is a significant proportion of the public in this country which believes all coppers are nutjobs on a power trip and it's nice to see someone proving that view to be incorrect. It's also nice to know from someone who's job it is to know police powers inside out that those powers do not include the erasure of photographs, no matter what the occasional underinformed beat copper may think.

Indoor sports is another one, most sports halls are abysmally poorly lit. You try getting fast enough shutter speeds for fast moving sports with the ISO's on the K10D sometime. I've been known to use my *istDL2 in preference to the K10D because it can go to 3200 (albeit not very well).
