for me it's economic. A few pence to charge the battery and my K10D is good to go for 5-700 shots. 36 exposures on film costs ~£5 or more. I just can't justify it at the moment.

I keep the kit though, in the fond hope that one day......

This is why I like non-subjective hobbies to be part of a club for.

My fellow fencers may think my style is bizzare, unorthadox and inferior, but it's hard to argue I'm not doing something right when my point is fixed on their chest

congrats on the acceptances! I like the shots, fisheyes are fun

neat idea to package and calibrate it that way, but that's pretty clearly just two linear polarasers stacked.

I might make use of the idea though, I think I have two linear polarisers somewhere....

Pentax at their best have always been masters of producing cameras one format smaller than they "should" be.

Compare the size of the MZ line to Canons short lived APS SLR for example, or the 645 to almost any Nikon 35mm.

If Pentax ever do produce a 35mm DSLR (I honestly have no idea if they will and no interest in debating it) I would expect it to be about the size of everyone elses APS-C cameras.

No, but most of the Tokina lenses are Pentax designs anyway (or the Pentax lenses are Tokina designs, or more likely it's some and some).

The bodies are different, but the optical formula is the same so the performance should be very similar.

When lights come from the back of the camera it can reflects directly into the lens through the square filter.
When you've a screw in only the front of the filter is expose so every light needs to go through that filter if it wants to reach the sensor.

A coating might lessen the effect but would never remove it for 100%
Ahhh I'm with you now, yes that does sound like it would be a potential problem. Surely it's a problem which has always existed though, has no-one come up with a solution? or is that solution screw in filters?

I can't imagine why you would want to use standard ND's at all for digital work.

The same effect can be easily achieved in post processing.
The standard and graduated ND filters are some of the very few left which I CAN see a need for. If you're on ISO 100 and your shutter speed is still too high at the aperture you want to use, you really have no other option.

Stefan you may be right but I can't imediately see why square vs screw in would make a difference with reflections. surely that's down to the coatings applied to the filter? or are the square ones generally uncoated and thats what causes the problem?

110 is a pain in the backside to get developed now at any price, if you find anywhere that will do it reasonably let me know! I've got a few films left for my A110 but with no way to get them processed I see no point in shooting them

Poor Windows users, I remember those days......

in all seriousness, for a Windows system I agree 100%, upgrades are just storing up trouble for later, clean install all the way.

Under Ubuntu Linux I have been unable to detect any meaningful difference except that you can't update to the latest ext disk format via an upgrade, and of course a clean install basically forces one to think about the computers organisation and adjust as necessary.
