I'm afraid my imediate response to that "public consultation" is

"how did they rig that?"

4000 people out of a population of 60,000,000 is hardly statistically significant, it would be simplicity itself to set up a consultation that size to get whatever result you wanted. You could probably "prove" that British people consider the sky to be pink if you tried hard enough.

The first SLR I used was an MV (as far as I know there's no actual difference between the MV and MV1).

It's pretty basic with Av only, but the metering was always pretty good on the one I used.

IIRC the lights are always smeared on MV's, as it's more about the colour of the light than it's position. They only have red for "too bright", green for "go for it" and amber for "caution, shutter under 1/30th" as I remember.

cool, I'd never thought of using stacking for terrestrial images for some reason, I use it a lot for astro.

I generally align images with Hugin and use RegiStax to do the stacking, both are free software so hopefully that will help those without photoshop to get in on the action.

there does come a point where you have to decide if you are willing to sacrifice build quality for price.

Pentax camera bodies have always been well made, even the base level *ists are still polycarbonate on stainless steel.

Alas mass market appeal is price driven, not quality driven.

Oops!! Sorry, I'll try that again,

thats very impressive for a K10D on ISO 1600 Stephan, what noise reduction did you use?

goodness knows what lead me to believe I was in one of your threads Amin!
And that would be Stefan, would it?

Can I have a pint of what you're drinking?
lol no, I need it! I clearly haven't had enough!

it must be the government breaking through my tin foil hat via my mobile phone.

Are they using the same batteries as I only have one for my K20d? Do I need to get one quickly?
if you insist on Pentax original batteries, I'd buy one sharpish. If you're happy to use a 3rd party alternative, I doubt it will become a problem for some years to come.

As has been noted in past threads on various things, one of the truely great things about the K series DSLRs is they are so customisable.

Each of us is free to choose exactly how he or she likes to work and the camera just gets out of the way and lets you get on with it.

Of course this just makes the learning curve for beginners even steeper, but that's why there are entry level models and fairly sensible default settings on the advanced models.

if it's 135mm then it will give the equivalent angle of view to a 200mm on film.

It is still a 135mm lens, but of course you know that.
