- which is DNG-only on the Samsung (no great problem).
it does cut the maximum number of shots per card by ~50% though, unless Samsung have implimented compression in the DNGs?

my concern with the Sammy would be the firmware. My experience of other samsung products (admittedly not cameras) is that the products themselves are often good (just love my Sammy ML1510 printer) but the aftersales support is poor.

Right now there is no significant difference between an off the shelf K10D and GX10, but with the new firmware for the K10D it aquires one or two significant advantages. Unless Samsung release a similar firmware update the GX10 will fall behind as Pentax get the K10 firmware updates out.

The 18-55 is actually not a bad lens at all, it is far superior to certain other manufacturors kit zooms and stopped down a bit is actually quite sharp. I have taken a number of (to me) very acceptable portraits and landscapes with that lens. If you need a shallower depth of field for portraits consider a 50mm prime.

I'm afraid I have no knowledge of the Sigma 55-200, personally I would have taken the Pentax 50-200 instead (available for £129 though not necessarily from that retailer). I hope the camera store hasn't sold you a lemon, the Pentax is very good indeed.

It sounds to me like you have quite a good beginners zoom pair there, I wouldn't think about another lens for a while unless that sigma really is dire and you take it back for a Pentax of the same range. Generally, when it's time to buy a new lens you will know exactly what you want, for now it looks like you have most bases at least more or less covered.

Oooh, I wonder what the k10D could achieve at ISO50?
I heared the monopolies and mergers commision made them leave it out because it would have eliminated the element of competition

Maybe Pentax ARE reading this forum and taking notes .

.......now what else do we need
Simple. The 16-50 1:2.8 should be priced at £800.00, and delivered in February 2007.

I'll second that, at least then I can finally admit that I can't afford one and set my sights on a Sigma 18-50 F2.8

I too will be waiting for the real version, I don't have a PTTL flash to control with it (yet) and while the ISO adjustments will be nice they are nothing that can't wait until next week.

I'm sure the guy on that site is 100% genuine, but I'd rather download my firmware from Pentax.

Indeed, I would go so far as to say that if I could choose bounce or swivel but not both, I'd go for swivel every time.

I feel it ought to be possible to rig something up using mechano, a flash extension cable and a tripod screw.
