Don't Jessops have a price match policy, which I think now includes the internet?

Never ever for any reason buy a camera card from a high street retailer, unless that reason is that they will price match internet prices.

Arthur, can you comment on the effectiveness of the Katz Eye "Plus" prism with slow lenses?

easy test:
prefocus the lens. lens on "A" setting, body on "AF"
move the camera slowly towards the subject, and at the point of focus the camera should fire.
It's called "Snap in focus" by pentax..and is a long time feature, that I doubt they'd just drop it on the newest model

You need to either make sure the focus indicator is lit, or put the camera into MF mode when using A series and earlier lenses.
I suppose AF-C mode would also work since you can fire the shutter all the time in AF-C, but there is no advantage to using MF lenses in AF mode since the focus indicator still functions in MF mode.

I'm in total agreement about the burst depth - this was my big issue with the *ist-D... Took the K10D to shoot my missus and her friends doing horse cross country on Sunday morning. I'm using 2GB Extreme III cards and easily getting 8 or 9 RAW's before it slows up.
Like you say the excellent burst depth is giving me plenty of shots to wade through - might have to buy another card???

I'm begining to think my Dad is right, the knocking sound when it turns on has nothing to do with DR, its the little magic imp who lives inside trying to get out.

I now have yet more observations of this universally superb camera
1) Contrary to my previous beliefs, the K10D does NOT require a fast card to perform well in continuous drive, provided you arn't taking long bursts.
I was happily squeezing off 3 frame bursts in PEF RAW format with my 7dayshop bargain basement card (an unrated Keymem card) and never once filled the buffer. With my DL2 I was forever waiting for the buffer to flush, or loosing frame 3.
2) the manual white balance tweekage ROCKS! I was running out of space so I decided to switch to tungsten WB and go to JPG mode (I usually shoot RAW with AWB and sort it out later). The manual white ballance adjust makes it so easy, and bringing up the previous shot with whatever WB you pick is just genius.
3) for my part, I am very satisfied with its 1600 ISO performance. I am not seeing banding and while it is noisy, the noise is not offensive and I consider it should be pretty easily removed by NeatImage or similar.
Now I just have to sort through the 4GB of photos I took, the only problem with having such good continuous drive!

Hi Will,
Yes I do. Let me know where to email it....
It is very extensive and includes 67 and 645 as well as compacts, binos and spotting scopes, but at least you know you're getting the lot!!!
Mike.
The R series total stations with auto focus telescopes always struck me as a good idea. I'd rather have an auto focus telescope than auto target tracking any day of the week.
