first I'd like to say MAN is this a difficult challenge. All in good fun!
I don't have any extension tubes, so instead I have mounted the following
Tamron 90mm SP Macro + 3 2x converters (2x Tamron SP flat field ones and a Tokina RMC) with a Zeiss Flektogon 35mm reversed at the front of it all.
It's a bit dark with all those converters, so I used a desk lamp directed straight at the penny to give me enough light to focus by and then fired a flashgun manually during a 2 second exposure to provide the actual light in hope of reducing noise by keeping the exposure short and the ISO low.
This is the best I have managed

Certainly my MZ-50 used to fire with non-A lenses, it just always metered as if the lens was wide open. This made it fine with Mirror lenses but a pain with anything else. MZ-30 and 60 refuse to fire without contacts
Hoofer, it will fire on the DL2 and work fine. If you have trouble getting it to work, PM me and I'll walk you through the custom settings. I used to have a 500mm CAT which I used on my DL2 no problems at all.

It will work perfectly on your MZ-3 and DL2, provided the custom function to allow shutter firing when not in the A position is set on the DL2.

the next firmware update, the teleconverter SR issue is really going to annoy me.

One general problem with converters which wire all contacts is that you cannot set the correct (doubled) focal width for SR.

Great thinks I, the Kiron 105 is legendary.
Indeed the optics are stunning, but the focus doesn't work properly It sticks at 1:1.2 and 1:10 so you can't get all the way to either end of the range
Does anyone know of a repair shop which would be able to do anything for it at a reasonable price? It's a lovely lens and it's KA fit so it actually works properly with the K10D.

Just looked at it in Opera and it's fine there, so it must just be the way IE deals with frames - good job they're all designed to a standard!

my 35mm zeiss was selotaped to the inside of the tamron's lens hood. Good to get the old ingenuity going from time to time isn't it?
edit: picture has apeared now, nice one
