For a low budget and manual focusing, consider the A 1.7 (and maybe the A 2.0?). For f1.4 or auto-focusing, the FA 1.4 is the obvious choice. The other FA and F 50mm lenses are quite rare.
But I also considered that one - if the price won't go up much.

I just wonder what 'LN' means...

For now I found one 'annoyance' I haven't thought previously of. The build-in flash is not useful in short focal range with DA 16-45mm lens. Between 24-16 the lens casts a large shadow Seems I'll need a flash (or shorter lens) sooner than I thought.
The lens surprises me as well going longer with shorter focal length (ie. it's longest at 16mm and shortest at 45mm). I thought it would be opposite.

DA 50-200mm lens is ordered in Jessops a week ago (for about 33 quid incl. shipment), but they said it will be in stock in 28 days, so I have to wait.
As advised I've also got 2x 8GB SDHC cards, ordered spare battery, big harddrive and a bag (Tamrac Velocity 5766, not that big, but should be enough for now, I think about Kata D3N1-30 later).
I have still some money left, but I think I'll buy some not too expensive Pentax 50mm for now and then will save for some decent flash and other lenses (I think about 90 / 100 / 105mm macro and 18-250mm) - but I'll see in the next couple of months what I really need.
So I'm disappearing into the manual, goodbye world for next couple of hours

Now we have the internet. Much more information, and from many more sources. I can find out all I need to know without stirring from my comfortable armchair. Then a quick phone call, and next day the kit arrives.
Miss the exercise, though.

I'm looking for an advice on Pentax 50mm lenses. I've spent some time (couple of weeks if not months) reading this forum, starting from the roots of its archives but still...
I know some prefer f1.7 over f1.4 for the sharpness but f1.4 should be a bit faster (but smaller DOF). Is the difference really noticeable? Then -A lens is manual, while -F and -FA are AF lenses.
Manual focusing doesn't scare me off - my first SLR was manual just with TTL light measuring system.
Are there also quality differences between these lenses? Should I assume they all are macro lenses, or it should be stated in their description? And what is the difference between -F and -FA models?
I consider buying one on eBay, but that's a difficult choice And what price ranges would you think fair for them?
I thought about £40 for -A f1.7 lens (and actually seen some sold for £40-£55) but have no idea about the other. I found some auctions, mostly in the US, but cannot decide yet which I really need / want. And some go a bit out of my budget at the moment.

As for bags, take a look at the new Kata 3 in 1 range. I found that a sling bag full of glass was too heavy for one shoulder, and this bag does give a lot more options. Sling over either shoulder, or a rucksack.
Not only that, the top storage section has a zipped bottom unlike all the other similar bags, which means a lot more options if you ever get some fast long glass etc. etc. Well worth considering.

Michal, for the battery, again you can find cheaper equivalents on the websites I mentioned before - the official pentax one is around £40 I believe, the same ones (different brand) can be found for around £10.
For a bag, I use the lowepro slingshot 200AW, its excellent, but it depends what kinda bag you want. The slingshot is quite expensive, not that comfy, however, very practical.
