I'm extremely happy saying I've joined K20D users It just arrived today with DA 16-45mm lens. It's soooo beautiful I can't wait for the battery's charged!

DA 50-200mm lens is ordered in Jessops a week ago (for about 33 quid incl. shipment), but they said it will be in stock in 28 days, so I have to wait.

As advised I've also got 2x 8GB SDHC cards, ordered spare battery, big harddrive and a bag (Tamrac Velocity 5766, not that big, but should be enough for now, I think about Kata D3N1-30 later).

I have still some money left, but I think I'll buy some not too expensive Pentax 50mm for now and then will save for some decent flash and other lenses (I think about 90 / 100 / 105mm macro and 18-250mm) - but I'll see in the next couple of months what I really need.

So I'm disappearing into the manual, goodbye world for next couple of hours
Kind regards,
Michal R. Hoffmann

The manual: I hope your battery charges up soon!

Have fun, a lovely camera and a lovely lens.

Best wishes, Kris.

Lots of film bodies, a couple of digital ones, too many lenses (mainly older glass) and a Horseman LE 5x4.

I see people keep reading these 'manual' things.

Congrat's on the new toy, Michael. I look forward to seeing some shots soon.
Cheers, HG

Battery charged; I just wish there is nice weather. Oh, well it's dark outside now. Hopefully tomorrow I'll have a chance for some outdoor activities

For now I found one 'annoyance' I haven't thought previously of. The build-in flash is not useful in short focal range with DA 16-45mm lens. Between 24-16 the lens casts a large shadow Seems I'll need a flash (or shorter lens) sooner than I thought.

The lens surprises me as well going longer with shorter focal length (ie. it's longest at 16mm and shortest at 45mm). I thought it would be opposite.

It is the other way round with most zooms, but interestingly different with the 16-45.

Anyway at least you've got an excuse to get up early tomorrow morning to try your new gear

Pentax has a few lenses like that. They do not include telephoto zoom, only wide angle. The 12-24 is like that too.

One of the first things you'll need to learn is how to upgrade the firmware. Your camera will almost certainly have shipped with V1.00, V1.01 awaits.
