I have recently purchased a Sun 28-80 zoom with K mount from a car boot sale for £4.00! Can anyone tell about the performance of this lens on Pentax cameras and give examples of shots taken using film?

I think this survey needs to include folding cameras as a category. My first experience of trying to take photos was with SOHO folding camera, 120 roll film taking 16 frames. The camera used to belong to my Mother. My other first camera experience was with a No 1A Pocket Kodak taking a 116 roll film (I still have both cameras). At the moment I am re creating this 1950s childhood experience with a H.B.M 'Synchro' folder with 120 APX 100 film. This camera was given to me from an 'Age Concern' Charity shop - enough said! Happy New Year.

I am really pleased to see the MV 1 attracting so much interest from the messages posted. It would be nice to see a few shots members have taken with this camera in the gallery section using the 40mm and other lens.

I recently bought a MV 1 from a charity shop in Devon. Does anyone have experience of this camera and its performance? Setting the exposure seems easy with 'light codes' but how accurate is it? Hope to hear from MV 1 people.

Hello Lonegroover,

Excellent, spirited reply! Will we see the ME, Program A and MX on E bay for the film community to bid for?
Best regards, Mire

If you 'loved you old ME super' why not continue to use it? I find it amazing that people 'abandon film photography forever'. This revolution is driven by a number of factors, one being consumerism. There is also something akin to a religious conversion experience about 'going digital' which needs further analysis.
I post images taken with Pentax film cameras on this site - obviously not yet a true believer in digital.

Interesting comments, so I'll take the advice and take some shots with the 35mm Pentax / Tokina combination. I am interested to see the Zeiss Flektogon 35mm lens in the manual kit bag. Do you have any example of work with this lens? Mike

Good to see some P30 owners (and previous users). I have two P30's both bought recently from car boot sales. The most recent was purchased for £2.50 with a Tokina SD 28-70 lens. The condition of was terrible, the camera was on the stall with the film compartment door open and rusting. There was mud on the camera and lens, which was carefully removed with a tooth brush.
To cut a long story short I repaired the door catch, cleaned of the body and rust and repainted the metal on the door. Held my breath, put a set of batteries in and IT FIRED UP! Today I've been using the camera in PROGRAM mode in Exeter with a FP4 film. To the person who doesn't know what to do with their P30 - use it.

I would be interested to see some results from the ME Super / Tokina combination. I have just bought for £2.50 at an Auto Jumble a Pentax P30 with the Tokina SD 28-70 lens. I my surprise the camera is working( after I repaired the door catch) and the lens is coming back to life.

The ME super seems to me and excellent camera, much easier and enjoyable to use than DSLR's. I am going to post some MES results on this site soon to boost the contribution from Pentax film camera users. On a lighter note, it looks like the 'cats have it' - look out black dog!
