Is this taken in crop mode? It's not a FF lens is it?
Full frame
Interesting, given that the image is full frame and the lens is designed for APS-C sensor coverage it doesn't do a bad job. I can see some corner vignetting, this must be where the lens image circle doesn't extend to cover the full frame sensor's corners.

I don't have a K1 but I've just tried two of my APS-C zoom lenses on my lovely old second hand ME Super, which has a 92% viewfinder coverage, and this is what I found:

SMC PENTAX-DA 1:3.5-5.6 18-55MM AL (mk 1 version) at 18mm the corners are vignetted but by about 24mm the corners are fine and remain so all the way to 55mm, so for most of its zoom range it would probably be fine on a K1 in full frame mode.

SMC PENTAX-DA 1:3.5-5.6 18-135mm ED AL (IF) DC WR this lens gives significant corner vignetting over its whole zoom range, so this lens would not work well on a K1 in full frame mode.

So it looks like your lens almost fully covers the K1's full frame sensor at least at 300mm.

Regards
Mike

Thanks,

I needed the help of 'The Mitchell Beasley pocket guide to Butterflies' book which has beautiful hand drawn illustrations.

Cheers
Mike
