I think Pentax having a Full Frame is the better chance of inroads into a larger pro-Market. That would catalyse more amateur sales.
If Pentax are ever to become an aspirational brand again and start to gain market share across their product range, grabbing at least some sales in the PRO market with a FF camera might be an essential part of the process.

I've used Harrow Technical for 2 cameras, the price was reasonable, the service was excellent and the work carried out was top class. Recomended!

My DA* 16-50mm jammed this afternoon on my K5. The battery was fully charged. It suddenly "froze" and I couldn't turn either the zoom or focus rings. I switched the camera off and removed it, then very gently eased the rings a little and they freed up. The assembly feels a little looser than it did before this happened, though, and when the lens is extended to 50mm there seems more play, i.e. waggling of lens barrel a bit. I could be imagining this but I don't think so. It felt very smooth and solid before the jam up.
Anyone have experience of jams on this lens? I've only just had it back from Pentax Service about ten days ago. I bought it new not long ago but found the focusing was out so that sharp pics were only possible at one aperture. They put that right, now this. Hmmn.

They are classic lenses, well known to non-Pentax photographers, and held in high regard, which has to count for something.
They were designed in the past, but that doesn't mean they're going to perform worse in the present, or on digital. As far as 'wringing out mileage' goes, IMO Pentax are actually under-capitalising on the reputation and quality of these lenses.
Pentax still has a long way to go to beat Canikon on the range of lenses they have available, nd of course they need to keep making progress, but neither Canon or Nikon has anything quite like the FA ltds in terms of quality in a compact package. They just so obviously make sense as the bedrock of an 'alternative approach to FF' from Pentax.

My feeling is they should make a camera almost specifically for the small FAltds. But it is interesting how the lens roadmap got updated earlier this year. Of course, they wouldn't let it be known whether these new lenses were FF until they had announced the camera. I imagine they would want to play their FF cards very close to their chest so as not to affect their crop camera and lens sales. I think Nikon played it the same way.
