GD, I think he meant that he was using free software.

Ammonyte,

I found a neat way of adding a copyright/watermark to my images in Photoshop CS2.

Create a new image with your copyright info on a transparent background and save it as a brush pattern. You can then simply drop your copyright anywhere on the page. If you keep it in a layer and you then sell a copy you can switch off the watermark layer for printing. You can also change its size and colouring to suit the image.

You could also have a look at this.

BTW: What is Paul Jones on? He doesn't look any different from his days with Manfred Mann. Chris Farlowe on the other hand . . . must've had a tough life.

Thanks Ammonyte, George.

Yes I have internet access and I'll still be 'sticking my oar in' on this forum. Internet was a top priority for me because I still have to do some work while I'm there and I keep in touch with wifey every day for free using Skype. It's taken nearly two years to get a land line in to get 'proper' ADSL. Prior to that I was using a wireless feed from a satellite ground station which was painfully slow at only 400Kb/s download, and terribly unreliable. The ISP eventually went bust.

George, my experience of Pentax repairs (one) is excellent. I bought my first 'D', broken, for a song (£250 about a year ago). It even had a half decent Tamron 28-105mm XR zoom attached. It had been left on the back seat of a london cab by a tourist and was being disposed of as lost property after the statutory holding period. The mode switch did not function (I knew that before buying it) and there was just the very slightest of evidence that it had been knocked or perhaps dropped, but not from a great height. I sent it off to Langley, wondering whether it had to be sent to Europe for repair. They sent it back in a week repaired for only £125 including parts, which I thought was pretty good. There was apparantly a circuit board beneath the switch which was broken.

BTW: This repaired 'D' is not one of the cameras I'm selling. Those for sale are in perfect condition. This one will be my backup to the K10D Gotta have one ! ! !

The weather is the main attraction I have to say. Over there, summer lasts from March/April to September/October with not very many bad days in between. August can be uncomfortably hot though. Unlike modern UK where summer weather only occurs for about 3 weeks in July/August.

I hope somebody can offer a good home to some of my Pentax kit.

Hi all,

I've sold my UK home and I'm moving to Spain in September to be with my wife (at long last). I've consequently decided to sell some of my Pentax gear (before she finds out how much I've really got ) because I just don't have room for it over there. I'm limiting myself to 1 X MZS, 2 X *istD's and a smattering of lenses. Oh and my trusty Fuji F810.

For interested members of this forum, you can see my auction listings here.

I'll be listing my *istDS, a *istD (maybe 2), and some flash units later so keep an eye out. I might even part with my MZS because film development costs in Spain are ridiculously high. All of my gear has been well looked after.

Cheers,

I don't know anything about the Pentax range of medium format cameras but I do know a bit about their flashes when used with 35mm bodies.

In old money (analogue interface) you will not beat the AF280T for versatility. It does bounce/swivel/TTL and lacks only adjustable power output (other than a (H)igh or (L)ow setting) and a zoom function. Wide and Tele diffusers are available for it.

The AF360FGZ is an excellent flash unit but lacks the swivel function. It has a retractable catchlight and wide diffuser. The head can be tilted for bounce. It can also be used in wireless mode with certain cameras (MZS, MZ6,*istD). You'll need to check suitability for your camera model. They sell for around £100 - £125 on ebay.

The AF500FTZ does almost everything but lacks the built-in catchlight and wide diffuser. It's not a wireless gun either. Sells for around £150 - £200 (powerful gun)

The AF540FGZ is my 'Holy Grail'. It is a superb gun but expensive at the moment. Available new from SRS Microsystems (if they have any)

Older guns like the AF400FTZ, AF400T, AF330FGZ might also suit your needs and can be had for a song (relatively speaking) at between £20 & £50 on ebay.

Their description states "Pentax - Pentax D-BG20 Battery Grip IST D SLR". Its inaccurate (wrong, false, incorrect), don't buy it unless you have a Pentax *ist (film) camera. It will not fit any of the (D)igital SLR's from Pentax.

They really are up close 'n personal. Careful though, you'll get hooked on macro An excellent start to a whole new experience.

Don't be so sure. The sun rises here way before it does on your side of the globe. I'm sure the queue for the K10D will be quite lengthy by then

Even if it does have various 'scene' modes, as long is it retains the features that 'D' owners have come to know and love + a few more, shake reduction perhaps being the most exciting of these, demand will be high, I'm sure.

Personally, I don't think we'll see them in 'proper' camera shops for some considerable time after launch, probably not until early 2007. The mail order supply chain seems to dominate over here.

Strewth George, that price includes lens, delivery & VAT too.

Ordered one yet then ? ? ?

I wonder if they have just a body, I don't want the lens.

Cheers for the link,
