Question: Are the SATA drives attached to an onbord RAID controller?

If so, you'll probably never get it to work.

What you could try, is installing the OS to an IDE drive and then use the SATA drives for data.

It works OK for me but the video has to completely download before it starts playing. I'll watch it all tomorrow.

If I'm in manual mode, I find it easier to quickly switch to Av, adjust the ISO, then switch back to manual, rather than going to the function button.
Dan,

In manual mode, just press the OK button and change the ISO using the front wheel.

It's customiseable within the menu. Both front and back wheels can have their functions reassigned.

Great lens, good pics. I have one also and don't get to use it nearly as much as I'd like. It always goes with me though.

Hi,

Sorry for the misleading answer, yes the lens has an aperture ring but I haven't tried this lens with Pentax because it was used mostly with Olympus and Canon. I'll have a go next time I visit the studio but for sure, the lens has an aperture ring.
Thanks
Thanks for that. The Canon mount version had no aperture ring and like Pentax FAJ and DA lenses, the aperture was set from the body.
Surely all decent M42 lenses, other than mirror lenses, have an aperture ring. You are never able to set the aperture from the body unless the lens has a Ka mount.

You're quite right of course George, I just couldn't see it in the photo's.

Thanks for that info, but it doesn't answer my question. For it to work on a Pentax K Mount SLR or DSLR, even with an adapter, it needs a means of adjusting the aperture on the lens. Does it have the necessary aperture ring?

I can't see from your ebay pics if the lens has an aperture ring. The Canon mount version doesn't. Can you confirm?

The system worked great with both Windows (samba) and NFS networking, but it had one flaw.

If the server was not shut down properly, about 30% of the time it would loose the partition table on at least one hard drive. I could never identify why this happened, and although other users reported not having the problem it occured on all 4 machines with which I used the software (different CPUs, motherboards and chipsets).
I seem to be having a similar problem. I've configured 3 drives in RAID 5. The RAID build runs through to completion OK but when I shutdown and restart, The array rebuilds again, each and every time. The system still works during the rebuild but it is obviously much slower as the rebuild uses about 25% of the CPU power.

I've overcome the not powering off after shutdown issue by upgrading the BIOS to the latest version available. Sadly the machine will still not boot from a flash drive even though it has the "Boot from other devices" option in the BIOS but it's not possible to select any USB device to boot from.

I'm not too bothered at the moment because I'm just using an old Slot1 Pentium 3 600MHz machine (very old) to experiment. It's not a machine I would entrust any important data with. I'd like to get the RAID issue sorted though.

Thanks for all your replies.
