That thing even has it's own battery for focussing. Gotta have one, but at £17k it's not going to be difficult to resist.

It comes with its own 2x TC too.

Surprise, surprise, it's not available in Pentax fit.

Unfortunately I'm on the other side of the planet to you so I can't help directly.

Maybe some of our US members can help.

Bottom line is you need to find a more helpful dealer.

There are some camera stores on this list. The gun stores will be selling Pentax binoculars. As far as I know, they don't make guns. We do the other kind of shooting.

Weather sealed means just that. Both the K10D and K20D benefit from weather sealing. Essentially, where rain, dust, snow or any other liquid or particulate matter could enter the camera's body, there is a neoprene (or similar material) seal to prevent it from entering.

Weather sealed lenses are the same. There is a gasket on the lens's mount that provides the lens to body seal, then any moving part like the focus ring is also sealed. These lenses don't have aperture rings.

If you use a non-sealed lens on a sealed body, there is a risk of ingress between lens and body. Also, stuff could enter the lens.

Weather sealed lenses also have an additional coating on the front element to shrug off dust and water etc.

As for IQ, some say it beats the Nikon D300.

Hope that helps.

Is it possible to find an adapter that will allow me to fit a canon lens of onto my K10D?
Pentax lenses can be made to fit Canon bodies with an adapter. Canon lens mounts are substantially bigger in diameter than the Pentax K mount, and therefore can't be adapted to fit Pentax bodies.

What you're wishing for isn't even on the Pentax lens roadmap.

But if you get the 300mm, you'll certainly not be disappointed.
