Please don't choose to spend your money on a DSLR based on it's 'live view' performance. It is of limited use in 'proper' photography.

Surely the biggest pro for the Pentax has got to be the fact that every lens ever made by Pentax will work on a K20D, including screw lenses with a suitable adapter), and they'll all benefit from shake reduction/image stabilisation.

Of course, this forum is another plus for the Pentax.

Best advice:- Go to a store that has both in stock, and try them.

Is the only diff for 1.01 the noise reduction?
The noise reduction issue is the only fix that Pentax state on their website. However, it's not unheard of for software/firmware developers to sneak in fixes that are perhaps not worth mentioning (or owning up to).

I'm not saying that your issue is fixed in 1.0.1, but it might be, and it's best to be on the latest firmware anyway.

I must admit I haven't used my 70-300mm Sigma for a while but both my 135-400mm and 180mm Macro show up in Lightroom as only "Sigma". Now that might simply be a limitation of Lightroom, I'm not sure, but I'll check using PhotoME.

It's a tricky decision, if I don't buy the 31 I know I'll kick myself down the line for all the reasons you've stated; if I don't buy the DA35 I'll kick myself down the line because the 31 doesn't focus close enough, is too big, doesn't have quick shift... Short of buying both (which I really can't justify right now) I don't know which way to turn - hence some more thinking time I reckon.
There really is only one answer to this dilemma, and only one decision to make.

Answer: Buy both.
Question: Which one first.
Decision: _______________. For you to fill in yourself

My preference: 31mm Ltd first, 35mm of your choice second. When you have both of those we can start work on the DA* zooms & primes .

I'm glad you like the lens. It certainly is not difficult to recommend it to just about anybody with any Pentax K mount camera, film or digital. It produces superb images. Thanks for sharing yours.

Some kind of quick release plate I guess? I think you'll have to search ebay for this one, or buy a new tripod/head.

I think all of the Pentax AF lenses can be stored. Sigma lenses are an issue because they all identify themselves as "Sigma", nothing else. If you have a number of Sigma lenses, you'll have to choose one, and all the others will be corrected the same way.

Check your firmware version. Turn off your camera. Press and hold the Menu button, power on. The current firmware version is displayed. If it's still 1.00, update to 1.01. You can download it from here.

Try brand new batteries. If it still doesn't work, it sounds like a warranty/repair job.

You'd be better off using rechargeable batteries for the future.
