Optimistic post for a Pentax forum, but maybe some of the recent Nikon converts might be interested.

I don't know this lens but if it has no 'A' setting on the aperture ring then that may be partly true. It will behave in much the same way as pre 'A' series lenses and will require stop-down metering with the camera set to Manual exposure mode. It'll stay wide open in all other modes.

I don't think anyone from this forum will be buying a 50-200mm for £299.99. I too was amazed at their cheek when I saw that.
It's probably an enthusiastic school-leaver's typo and should have read £29.99

Am I the only guy around that carries a powerful, magnet on his keychain for self deffence?
I figure I can toss my keys at all the scrap metal these punks got in thier faces, and while they're trying to pry the keys off thier faces, I can yank thier always exposed underware up over thier heads, and make a run for safety...
Well I blame their parents. When I were a lad . . . (queue Monty Python sketch)

! ! ! HaPpY BiRtHdAy ! ! !

Of the two focal length ranges you mentioned:-

1: A lens having 10-20mm will present new photographic opportunities not available to you with your current lenses. My choice would be the Sigma, I don't like the fisheye perspective of the pentax 10-17mm.

2: Replacing the 18-55mm with a DA 16-45mm will improve the images you take within that focal length range. it is a much better lens than the kit lens.

You could extend the long end with the use of a good tele-converter. Maybe wait for the new SDM rear converter.

Why couldn't the Pentax be f2.8?
It would be too expensive and they wouldn't sell many. I've no doubt that it would be a superb lens.

The DA 18-55 MkII is supposed to have better resolution to more closely match the capabilities of the K20D sensor.

I have one spare which I bought from SRS together with my K20D to get the cashback offer. I have the DA* 16-50mm, DA 16-45mm, & DA 18-55mm MkI lenses so it's surplus to my requirements.

It's new & boxed with all original paperwork & accessories. The box has been opened and closed, lens & hood have not been removed from their packaging, it's in brand new & unused/unhandled condition. The only thing missing is the bar code panel from the box which was removed for the cashback offer.

Yours for £34 including postage to a UK mainland address.

PM me if interested.

I don't visit UK very often but out of interest I went into Jessops in High Wycombe at the weekend.

The Pentax brand name was nowhere to be seen. A quick scan of their display cabinets revealed only Canon, Nikon, & Sony.

An assistant was 'selling' a Sony product to a potential customer and all I heard of the conversation was:-

Customer: "So it's the lens that does all the work and the cameras are all similar?"

I left . . . in a hurry.

PS: I went in out of curiosity to look for a Tamrac bag. Only Lowepro on display.

That's a beautifully clear/sharp image. What do you use to achieve a focal length of 2400mm, a telescope, or did you borrow a shuttle from NASA and take it for a spin?

EDIT: I just checked your blog . . . and found the answer. Brilliant piece of kit.

Is there a problem? If so, can you be more specific?
Go to Forum Search, enter 'leaning' (without quotes) in the top search box, hit search.

I get "The page you want has moved" (or something similar), and I'm redirected back to the forum home page.
