Welcome to the forum.

The FA 80-320mm is a good lens. A common criticism is it's softness at the long end, just like most long range zooms. Between 80 and 250'ish its a good performer.

On your K20D it'll have an equivalent field of view (FOV) of a 120-480mm lens on a 35mm film camera.

It seems that we can use inferior lenses on our superior bodies!
I can't think of a good reason for doing that.

Serif Photoplus has seen versions 10, 11, and now X2 since version 9. I found it OK (no better) for JPG's but not much else. Serif claims it will open RAW files, but that's not Pentax RAW files.

I switched to Adobe Photoshop. You'd be best advised to go with Adobe also.

Phoned srs just an hour ago and they sold there last copy a few days ago might be able to get a copy though from my local dealer. He said he might be able to get one from pentax direct, hope I have not left it too late this is a lens I should have got some time ago.
Don't hold your breath. If Chris (SRS) can't get one, I doubt anybody can. They do come up on ebay quite frequently though.

EDIT: 9 available here. If you want/need one, go for it now.

Maybe I should buy nothing now and save up for a 12-24mm Pentax? Can anyone tell me, is that a bit less 'fishy' than the 10-17mm?
You need to read up on the difference between curvilinear and rectilinear design of lenses. The Pentax 10-17mm is curvilinear, the 12-24mm (and Sigma 10-20mm) is rectilinear.

The fisheye effect is due to the curvilinear design of so-named lenses. This basically means that straight lines at the edges of the frame will appear curved. A rectilinear lens tries very hard to keep those straight lines straight. The Pentax 12-24mm does a better job than most.

Then decide what you like the look of.
