It is disgusting so many innocent photographers are asked to stop taking pictures! Always in public places!
Most shopping centres, if not all, are actually private property. Use a P&S camera and you'll usually have no problem.

I'm 99.999% certain that the grips are different and are not interchangeable.

Interesting comparison between Pentax K20D and Nikon D300.

You maybe need to suspect your charger too. I use an Ansmann charger which monitors/charges each cell individually. The chargers that require the cells to be charged in pairs are not ideal in my opinion.

Test each cell individually after the camera has shutdown due to insufficient power. I'll almost guarantee you have one or more faulty cells.

Also, is your firmware up to date?

No it doesn't. It says "*Blank, formatted SD card (8MB or more) "

MB, not GB.

Thank you, guys.

As far as the background is concerned, well, that's the colour of my lawn. Not much to do about that, I'm afraid.
In true panto fashion . . . oh yes there is.

Most stationers carry card stock in a variety of colours.

Thanks again Peter. That's what I needed, step by step instructions. I'll have a go and post the outcome. I'm new to the forum and quite pleased with the level of sensible people who freely give good advice. I'm a returnik to the world of SLRs after putting my pristine ME super away in a drawer 5 years ago. It's amazing how much I'd forgotten about 35M/M photography, looking forward to picking it all up again.
You're welcome. You'll find complete instructions on the download page. The most important thing is to use fully charged batteries. The upgrade process will not exhaust the batteries, but if the ones in use are about to become exhausted the camera could shut down mid-upgrade. That is about the only thing that might corrupt the process.

If your camera has several versions of firmware, just download the latest one. It's not necessary to apply each upgrade in turn.
