My first pentax k5 body locked up and needed to have its battery removed to restart. My second, a k3 body wouldn't write to its cards, (first outing saw me take 300 photos and 118 were recorded on its card) and was replaced. The third Pentax a k3 again will not start the first time it is switched on, it just looks dead and it also needs its battery removed before it will burst into life. Taking a battery out means taking off the
DB5 grip and is a nuisance every time I want to take a photograph..

Have I jut been unlucky with my camera bodies? My Minolta and Panasonic cameras just didn't have these problems. Is there anything your technical experts can suggest to make the k3 camera useable ?
SRS have solved the problem with a link to a firmware update which has fixed the starting problem the firmware is 1.03.

I have had two k3 bodies the first chewed sd cards and was swapped by SRS. the second has had problems switching on with the db5 grip fitted and has also suffered with the machine gun shutter twice in two trips to the zoo. I am going to return this body to SRS to see if it can be repaired.

I have a pentax original grip but I didn't get a pentax battery ..will this make a difference ? Although I had the grip attached it wasn't switched on. I have tried the Pentax without the grip and took two hundred photos today with no problem.

I bought my K5 two weeks ago. I love it but it has locked up twice this weekend forcing me to remove the battery grip and take the battery out of the camera to get it to work again. Surely, a camera that locks up so often has a problem that needs sorting out ?

Hello everyone. My name is Steve and I have just got my first Pentax..a K5 camera.

I got the 18 x 55 kit lens with it and I am waiting for a Pentax 55 x 300 zoom to turn up. Ive also got the battery grip when I ordered the camera.

Its my first digital slr so theres got to be a big learning curve.

Stand by for a few silly questions.

Steve.
