I have always had one major issue with camera batteries, excluding AA & AAA, I could never tell how much of a charge is left.

Well I can now test the level of charge, with the Hahnel Unipal + charger, when I checked one of my batteries which the camera gave me 3 out of 4 bars the charger advised me that there was only 40% left on the LCD display!

This device will not only charge nearly all 3.6/3.7 or 7.2/7.4v batteries and two AA & AAA's, also most devices with USB port, but would be invaluable for travellers as it includes 100-240v mains adaptors and a 12v car lead not bad for under £20.

I tend to agree with the quality cost ratio relative to digital. In the dim and distant analogue past, I tended to use Nikon and the Olympus OM models, with a brief period of use with the MX.

When I finally embraced digital, I started to use Canon as I found that Nikon digital ergonomics did not suit me, I sold my Canon gear to go to Pentax K5. I have not looked back, a dependable and quite tough weather proof body a lot cheaper than an equivalent Canon body.

Whilst nothing can be perfect, I can't find much to fault on the K5.

I have the lens on my K5, it lives there I am happy with it, I have no concerns. Reviews like this remind me of people looking at 12x16 prints at comps with a magnifying glass and stating I see grain!

You must be getting REALLY old - I think I can remember pretty much every camera I bought from the first (folding 620 size Kodak Junior II) when I was about 13-14! OTOH maybe that means that at 65+ I am suffering from age-related memory issues whereby I can remember the very old things but not the latest (mm - did I have my lunch or not
Oh my aching joint's!! Can just about hold up my K5

I picked my Pentax K5 because, It felt right, good ergonomics, It is weather sealed, I particularly liked the display on the rear screen and it is tough.

I used a Pentax MX & K1000 for a while years ago, then I used Nikon [analogue] for a long time till I went to Canon for digital. But the spec on the K5 impressed me, it also gives me far better value for money compared to Canon.

I use my K5 for landscapes with the 18-135. When I want to travel light I use a fuji X10 which serves me well as I prefer optical viewfinders, my only gripe with the fuji is battery power, I always ensure that I have a spare battery in my pocket.
