Anyone own a Sigma 50mm 1.4 then? Any comments?
I would say the sigma 30/1.4 has more character than the 50/1.4, but none of them match the 50/1.2 which is, at f/1.2 something special.
In fact I haven't used mine for a while. I'm itching to have some fun with it in the near future .... Next shoot!!!

But to to try and answer you question what about the A* 85mm F/1.4 superb bokeh or Takumar 50 1.4's.
However, your 77mm must be very good anyway, you could enhance the bokeh effect even further with the Alien skin bokeh plugin, which would save you a lot of cash.
Personally if i owned the 31mm and 77mm I would be more than happy, i think you will find it very difficult to beat either of these two lenses with anything else.

I am surprised though that you discarded the 50mm so quickly. It is obviously not a Ltd lens, so the construction is inferior, but the image quality is very highly regarded by most people. And surely that is the most important thing.
I also have a picture using the 50mm 1:1.2, which is also a nice lens for shooting human skin. For some reason this picture has been viewed more often than the other.

Can you tell me what F stop u shot that photo with? The bokeh seems ok to me, however it seems like the image looks a bit flat and does bring out the subject. I am comparing with the photo done with my 77mm. Example as below. let me know if if you have any samples that the 43mm can produce such stand out effect if you see what I mean. Thanks

I love the 43 Ltd for portraiture as well as other genres. It's an incredibly versatile lense. I used to have an F 50/1.4 (same as the FA) but I honestly don't think it brought anything more to the table in any circumstance over the 43 Ltd - even though it's described as the Bokeh King, so I ended up selling it. In fact I prefer the SMC Tak 50/1.4 if I really want f1.4 .... for it's easily identifiable bokeh !

better build quality than the FA 50mm.
The FA 50mm 1.4 is feels very plastic to me. Yet costing over £300. We all know it used to be under £200 just 2 years ago. I wouldn't get the FA unless it is real cheap 2nd hand say under £150 which is impossible I guess.
