: Also, whats the view on 'sharpening' in camera - do you all tend to leave it on all the time and if so what level.
Or is it best to sharpen post processing?

Used my FA SMC 135mm 2.8 which as MattMatic said does fly on the K10.
It has been well cropped down by at least 60%, so I am well pleased with the resolution, did do a bit in CS2, tried the highlights/shadows and sharpen.
So relieved all my existing SMC FA lenses work perfectly with K10, without all your advice @ the forum I wd have been reticent to go ahead and buy it.

I would have to say to the original poster, who has only had her K10D a few days, forget RAW . . for now. Get to know your new tool first by banging off pics in JPEG format of whatever offers itself in front of your lens.
When you are familiar with how the camera behaves or rather, when you've tamed it by changing a few custom settings, then switch to RAW.
Treat your K10D as a very intelligent point 'n shoot, tweak its settings until you are comfortable with everything and how it works first. Make pictures (RAW) later.

Lilly,
you cant "paste" an image into your posts, you need to upload your images somewhere else then provide a "link"
I use http://photobucket.com/ its totally free and you can link to images posted there.
No doubt forum veterans will explain it in more detail.

May I also say what wonderful mono images you have on your website - richly processed with such tonal range (how do you do it?) exactly the type of atmospheric shots I aspire to.
: Were they taken with a K10D?

Lilly,
As you have PS CS2, you don't need to load the Pentax Software really. It's not a friendly application to use.
Do make sure you have the latest Adobe Camera RAW (ACR) plug-in though. This will facilitate you shooting in RAW DNG mode, and you can u se Adobe Bridge, together with ACR & CS2 for editing.
Regards,
I will however download SilkyPix as everyone seems to rave about it and looks like it will user friendly for me at fist, new to RAW etc...
But wd like to try and use CS2 also as I have it, beginning to wonder why tho'!
Thank u again folks!

Will bear that in mind for future shots, it def stops the eye wandering north out of the pic.
So, do you save ALL your jpegs as .tiffs?
Do you know of a link anywhere that gives guidelines about how to save images for the archive that maybe used to submit for sale or comps? As I would like to get it right from the start
