Thanks Galoot, quite a change to have a full bottle in the house!

Some more from the 1.4, I beginning to find I do prefer to shoot wide open with it at 100iso.
Shot by a window on overcast wet afternoon, like the gin and perfume, you do get some great soft light then...

Are my lemons sharp enough?

It arrived this morning and I think I'm in love...

Not the best composition I'll be the first to admit, but that depth of field is next to nothing, and the out of focus areas... Practically melt in the mouth.

Thanks to all at SRS, postal strike not a problem, very well packaged and secure.

Very good demo Dan, of its DOF, you do realise I had to snatch off the birthday wrapping this pm to have a go too

This lens is so lush and out there, I am in love too with the optics of this gem

I do note tho':

1- pretty whacky DOF at 1.4 as stated before, but such sublime results when you get it right it is going to perfect for artistic food photography, flora, portraiture....

2- I was a little surprised and idiot that I am I forgot about the conversion of 35mm lenses on digital bodies the change in focal length (looks like it is more 75mm on K10D) but I can live with it for the results.

3- As Dan says SRS were the biz, my lens arrived the next day, excellent customers service and will not hesitate to order my gear from them again

I spent a very dreak pm doing a few test shots with my little 50mm 1.4, comments welcome please:

Further to this discussion, I am now extremely disappointed to find out after calling Warehouse Express that they have no bananas (50mm 1.4 FA) and that if I order one they cannot give me an idea how long it might take as Pentax have run out of them and they are awaiting more supplies from Japan. I then tried Parks and a couple others to no avail.

It is very frustrating trying to buy anything out the ordinary from Pentax sometimes

Anyone out there got any ideas where I might try next?

Oh, Matt that kinda freeks me out, always paranoid about a filter, so you say SMC is tough, what about rain on surface of lens, would you be perfectly happy just to wipe it dry with cloth?

smc FA 50mm f/1.4

At last, my birthday pressie I am about to order

When I order the above should I purchase a digital protector filter or just a skylight filter, probably a daft : but as it is not a digital lens as such I presume it would be OK for just a skylight but there again ?
I hope you will put me right
