.... perhaps we should have both a separate feedback thread as well as judge’s comments. What do people think?
..... to posts Lilly might make from her rather photogenic forthcoming travel destination, India (you will keep posting won’t you, when you’re away?).
Lilly – .... Exposure seems spot on – how did you achieve this? Did you use some kind of multiexposure? Or was it just early/late enough in the day for you to get that kind of detail in the shadows? ......
....One other thing, on my monitor the pic seems – ever so slightly – soft. I’m not sure it’s even softness – there’s something almost intangible in the detail that I can’t resolve when I look at it. Perhaps I need new glasses! Anyway, I’d be curious to know what your thoughts are on this, as the Sigma 10-20 is one lens I’m considering getting when I’m back in the UK over Xmas.
Re my impending trip I shall be checking in on you all as and when I can and will even try and post up images if possible, which I am sure it will be, who knows!
Now as to your observation of my spot on exposure, hands up! It was an HDR, I took just two exposure on the tripod 2 stops apart as an experiment, usually I take 3 or even 5. That is the reason why the detail is somewhat intangible! This is the one aggravating thing about HDR that annoys me, that they always seem soft, obviously because it it more than one exposure. Havn't discovered yet how to summount it, ideas please?
So, don't let it put you off the 10-20, it is just great and I am very happy with it, this shot is not a fair example of how sharp it is.
Well done Hefty, I liked yours best as well, worthy winner.
I found it a diffcult subject to get my head around and that surprised me, all good challenging stuff though, love the comp, feels much more like home
I think the separate feedbakc is good to go with judges comments, as long as judge doesnt get tempted to view comments

I really want one that can freestand and screw on tripod, like this:

Just would like to check a Pentax foot is the same.
The Pentax one I linked to earlier does not have a tripod mount.
This one would do the job though?

I've got an identical one and I've just checked that a Pentax flash does fit in the slot, and it also has a tripod socket.
Depends if you can live with the Nikon branding??

...
You should be aware that the VP5500 doesn't support K20DRAW, only K10D and earlier. There is a firmware upgrade available from the Vosonic site which may include K20D RAW...?
