I think the residue may be the result of Aluminium oxidisation. It should wipe off with a damp cloth. Don't do it too often as a layer of oxidisation actually protects the base metal.
This looks scary

The forces of nature I can handle, the wrath of the "Duchy of Cornwall" is a totally other matter.

this is so weird seeing all these faces now, takes a bit of getting used to, bit like being at a fancy dress ball and then everyone takes off the masks!
Must go and wash my jeep...

Bonus point for me then wherever possible I always take off my sunglasses to talk to people, in fact I consider it rude not to.
Hmm, that means I'm rude. My glasses are photochromic and without them I don't see very well.
I guess I could look at Lilly or talk to her but not both at the same time then...

Understand exceptions have to be made here and there!

That's a very good conversion and a great link - thanx for sharing, I do do a similar technique but not quite so refined, I shall play with this tonight

ps- BTW, IMHO it wd be stonger if you cropped it selectively

pps- a very interesting website too, www.fredmiranda.com

At the end of the weekend I'll be reverting to the red lilly, but will change my portrait in 'about me' so curious people can see how handsome I'm not!
I think that is an ace idea, a very good compromise

I am not sure if this has been covered before?

I have noticed on my camera lens mount, (the round bit with connection contacts etc) not sure of correct term!
Well, it gets a bit grubby, a build up of greasy black stuff over quite a time.
Up until now I have just wiped it off with a lint free cloth. Should I use spirit if so which one?
It builds up on the lens mount too.
Any advice would help.
