Please, I hope I haven't learnt an expensive lesson. If so, please pass on to others, so they can learn from my ignorance! I had my sensor cleaned yesterday by Pentax. Today my camera doesn't work. I left it in the car in my gadet bag, with my Nikon Coolpix point and shoot. Has the heat damaged the camera? All I get when I turn it on is "AV" flashing and the number of pictures showing up on the display. The shutter release doesn't work, the flash will not activate using the button to pop it up. The menus show. I can see photos taken that are stored on the card. But no go on more shots!
I just bought a Macro/ and a 300mm. Now I'm out of business.
I can't afford another camera! If it requires a rebuild $$$$$??

Thanks very much, for the info. will look into that end.Hi Larry, you can also use a remote release for Canons (sorry wash my mouth out with soap!) on you camera. Look for one that is Canon RS-60E3 compatible. I have a generic one made by JJC which cost me 12 euros.
I got this as the IR remote only works from the front on the Ist D series. They solved that one on the K10D so it also works from the back.
I know you from DPF (but I use another name there )!

I have recently entered the digital world I ahve been a user of Pentax Equipment since the Spotmatic days 1969 I believe. So, I'm a die hard user. On my new "ist DL" how do you take time release photos I have cables for my film cameras even My ME Super, Am I missing something here! Sorry for my ignorance. I've tried using the timer to eliminate the camers shake from me pushing the button. But for extended shots help.
I have no instructions for a tele 100-300 Power Zoom I bought it used. There is a switch on the barrel P A > AS. And on the barrel is a ring I push to activate the focus/power, can I damage it if not used properly?

I very well know that awful sinking feeling you get when something expensive that's also your pride and joy stops working... and you suspect it's cos of something dumb you've done.
Most of us have been there... and re your , most of us have also learned that it's MUCH, MUCH better to briefly feel a bit foolish over missing some minor thing, than be stuck with an expensive repair and lengthy downtime.
