Some seem to think Pentax is ok.
Can't comment on the K3 yet as it's been pitch black since I got it...
Too busy with Landscapes to do any testing...

Had a very quick play with one, tbh don't see the point on 2 fronts.

1. Its not small enough to be a compete with the CSC's
2. It loses the advantage that the K50 has over the base canikons by losing a control wheel and weather sealing.

So wheres the market for it?
True on both points above but the design ethos is to attract people to an optical viewfinder, I thnk they would have been better off making an APSC "Q" with a detachable viewfinder electronic finder, hybrid thingy, oh and while I'm at it a "ff" Q and a 645Q. Start a new line of short register limiteds and bring out an adaptor so you can use your DA glass on the APSC but thats not going to happpen... sigh
In answer to your last point, the market for it is not here! It'll come over because it's in the range new and available and they have nothing to fill the K50 gap in the market (which is on it's way out and not in production), until probably the spring. If they can sell a few then why not but the whole pastel colour thing and funky lights business is a far eastern delicacy...

In all out sales worldwide I think it's probably the big one by now and if it isn't it soon will be, If Sony ever get the hell out of the TV market which they won't, who knows they may even sniff a profit!
The numbers published however rarely tally and vary widely,
The last BCN ranking had Canon #1, Nikon #2 but that was for Japan and I think for interchangable lens camera's only.
Oddly Sony has a smaller percentile of that particular home (Japan) market than Pentax/Ricoh
We're "Big in Japan"
Well, quite big...

[quote:3496ace15f="andy_bell"]Another interesting comparison......

Having had both In can vouch that the D6xx series has a very strong AA filter, very! However it's files can take a ton of sharpening, even a fanboy like me has to conceed to the D6xx on image noise though

Given the lack of photographic retailers in Edinburgh, it was good to see two Pentax cameras ( the K-S1 and K-50) on display in John Lewis. Even noticed someone trying one. Must be Christmas.
I remember being in there not so long back and they had quite a few, nice to see em keeping it up, they had quite a good range of Pentax Fuji and Olympus not just the big three, choice is good...

If I tried that in the UK, anywhere except probably Knoydart, it wouldn't be there in the morning (exaggeration!), nice to know how it holds up though, and I agree they should try to market that a bit more too. Though not quite as unique a selling point as it once was it is one of Pentax's strengths...

I leave the highlight control on if I'm just carrying/using the camera and not any grad filters or a tripod and that could lead to underxposure if the camera thinks it needs it. At ISO 200 you'll get up to a stop, obviously I turn it off when I don't need it.
And before anyone starts, yes it does affect the RAW file but leaving the shadow control on doesn't., even when using a third party RAW engine like Adobe for instance. It's one of the core values that RAW convertors don't strip out, wish they'd let me process my HDR like I shot it instead of splitting them up but that is another matter..
