With good exposure noise is not much of an issue, learn the meter and you'll be fine...

Well the teleconverter is out of stock at the SRS price I wanted to pay so it was back to the K-3 vs. K-5II drawing board. And having missed a £635 K-3 deal (after cashback claim) last week I wasn't going to miss it again when it popped up at Jessops, much as I'd have preferred to deal with SRS, who couldn't price-match it. Ordered Monday, arrived Tuesday and all seems well... apart from the small matter of the manual being for a K-50!
At only £36 more than a K-5IIs I just couldn't resist. Can't wait to try it out with my DA*300... but the TC will have to wait until next year now. It arrived after dark but initial impressions so far are good, it certainly feels good in the hand and I do like the brighter sharper LCD screen and snappy focus indoors.

Like the way ephotozine shows the k3 list price in article as £1100 but shows the canikons at street price. Nice!!
When it was orignally reviewed by John it was a bit pricey, I know because I bought our mutual one then!
Second time around, price was was much better, New price at the moment can be better still!
Still too soon for a K3 MkII/s, I reckon, More likely a K70 (?) in the Spring and a New K3 in the Autumn of next year.
FF, no Idea, Totally not my ball game any more, something I'm pretty glad about actually...

Here are the latest top 80 selling cameras from Japan. It is important to remember that how good or otherwise a camera is is not as important as how well it is selling. There is a correlation of course but the camera itself is only part of the story. Is it really Pentax' intention for this camera to be a niche product outside of the mainstream? If not then something is surely not right.
K-S1 Is a good little camera let down by all the things that seasoned photographers want but it's not really for us is it?
If you want one get one it's very very solid and quite funky looking but you already know you will not get the handling of the higher end bodies but again it's what you pay extra for. The K50 appears nowhere in that list that I could spot despite it being on special offer everywhere at the moment, maybe in Japan they have run out and are busy grabbing K5IIs's at bargain basement prices? At least it has a grip unlike a lot of the CSC's which don't seem to get panned for it. It's true it does not fiti n anywhere but it's not meant to it's a stand alone "Innovations" product as is the Q-S1. Pretty sure we'll see a K60/70 in Febuary with a very similar spec in a body with better ergonomics and hopefully weather sealing. Everyone will applaud that one as being brilliant despite it probably having exactly the same picture taking engine as the K-S1. There is nothing wrong with the K-S1's output, thats for sure...

Sums it up for me perfectly.
If you really need it, you already know who you are, the rest of us just don't, basically if you shoot handheld in dark places, and your livelyhood depends on it, you should already have something that isn't a Pentax, I like my Pentax just fine...
