Mic input, so a video feature advancement on the K-30/K-50 model. To work this will need audio level indication, otherwise you don't know if you are clipping your audio or recording too low.

If they're investing in video features, then I hope they drop that 'Movie SR' rubbish in the bin where it belongs and restore real/active sensor shift stabilisation in video mode, like the K7/5 families had.

Looks like side hinge screen, so great for selfies (ie not much at all) and not a tilt screen (ie useful) like the 645Z. Still a full 180 degree side hinge would be useful for video blog work etc. If it's video focussed then lets hope it can deliver.

I have no interest in a collapsible kit lens. That sounds like a cry to reduce DSLR size without offering mirrorless. If it's priced right then I could definitely be interested as an upgrade to my K-30.

What's the overall vibe on the new K-S1 sensor? How does that compare to the K-3 one? If this new DSLR has no AA filter also then honestly I'm getting quite interested in this. Assuming WR and all, this looks like a neat upgrade to the K-30 for me
Got to admit that does look like the hinge but there may be more going on round the back than that? Wondering if it will have the new control wheel arrangement on the back ala K-S1 or traditional?
Agree they need to put back the proper movie SR if they are serious about it.
Looks like quite a nice camera and may play well with my K3 meaning I don't have to care about any k3 upgrade, anytime soon.
The perennial DXO comparison:

You don't lose or gain much, the differences could easily be sample variation but you get 20Mp instead of 16.
I did post a few quick K-S1 test shots a bit back and was very impressed with the image quality, rumor sites suggest it is the 24Mp sensor but I would think they'll go with the 20 in this one, I hope so anyway...

Well I itch and that "large diameter telephoto zoom" gives me hope that it is a 70-200mm f2.8 for a 35mm sensor.
Hope it gets past the prototype stage for ya then!

Interesting...given the relative small size of it, my guess would be that this will be the K60/600 and intended as a replacement for the K50/500 probably with the 20MP sensor from the K-S1. It is pictured with the new 18-50 'compact' kit lens as well by the look of it. I'm guessing that the K-3 is intended to now 'drop down' the line-up to fill the space vacated by the K-5...given the huge price drop in such a relatively short time by this model. Only question is whether the new 'Top Dog' will be announced at CES also or whether they save this for about Easter time.
Why? K3 is only just over a year old and likely not due for replacement until the Autumn, why is everyone in such a rush all the time?

The happy couple will be swayed more by the brand name than sensor size.

What make camera do you use? ... Oh all our friends use Canon and Nikon, they are big brand names used by professionals so the pictures will be brilliant.

Pentax ... who are they?
Exclusive "Pro" Only...

Contrary to common belief Fuji does not sell that well around the world, like Pentax only in parts, Fuji have quite a few Professional converts whether by sweetners gifting cameras or by choice, I have no idea but they make a lot of noise for Fuji and keep them in the public eye a little more than most but their actual numbers tell a different story...

That was my point, I just feel that most of those who need a "FF" body have already gone, I think it's likely too late for Ricoh to bring one out , shutting the stable dooor when the horse is already in the next county so to speak. Also everyone seems to be assuming it will be a DSLR it could be a big fat "Q"?
Personally I'd like to see a MF and an APSC "Q" With some short register versions of the limiteds and an adaptor so you can use all your + glass on the APSC version but again thats my point. One "FF" body won't cut it it'll be no good because it's too expensive, it'll be no good because it's too cheap and feature limited, it'll be no good because it's not a D4, it'll be no good bcause it's not a D810 and the list goes on, we all would love to see a Pentax "FF" but how many would really buy it, when not all of us envision the same camera, Nikon Canon and Sony do not just offer one "FF" camera they offer a range to suit peoples needs, in almost every respect there will be a camera from the other manufacturers that bests the Pentax in some crucial area or another, whatever Ricoh brings to the table, diluting the Pentax market further, I just don't see them selling very many I think they'd sell more cameras if they went mirrorless, despite having found to my cost that even the mighty Fuji X-T1 Did not come up to my expectations in quite a few areas, done right though they could sell bucket loads of mirroless DSLR/Rangefinder clones, they could also enter the M4/3 market too, all of it costs money and they will have to develop a raft of new lenses and bodies to stem the leaks in the business model, whatever way they decide to go, I just don't feel that a single "FF" camera is the way to do it anymore...
Perhaps a digital 645 Q Brought down to the pricing levels of the higher end 35mm "FF" would in the end be better for Ricoh?
Right there you have a unique selling point and an upgrade path...
But then again what do I know, it's a toughie trying to second guess the market at moment and maybe it would be better for Ricoh to diversify into as many formats as possible and do a Sony? Throw mud at it until something sticks, they've definitely sold the A mount short but the E mount is gaining popularity and fast, could Ricoh afford to do that too?
I'm not so sure anymore of A: whether Pentax as a name on a Camera will survive long term or B: wheter Ricoh is really in it for the long haul, evidence of the latter does seem a bit thin on the ground, whatever they need a really big push in 2015 but how much can we really expect?
