Very impressive - I would be rushing out to buy the adapter after seeing these - if only it auto focused!

Fantastic shots that, yet again, show the huge potential of the Q system. There's quite a bit of skill in there as well though, because the lack of AF with the K adapter does mean careful focusing skills need to be developed. It's not impossible though, and when the subject is in one place for a while that makes things a bit easier.

id love to get the pentax adapter but for a 'go' its too much money.

any recommendations for a cheap version?

There are plenty of cheap versions on eBay and Amazon. It's what I had to settle for and it does work, just slightly less conveniently and with no inbuilt shutter. I found it didn't matter about the shutter in any of the situations I photographed.

are all the cheap plastic versions the same with no contacts etc?

there are some that control the aperture fotodiox do one if I remember correctly- usually there is a grip on the adaptor which you turn to close or open the aperture as necessary

They are not plastic and certainly don't seem cheap in the sense of badly made. The one I bought, for about £40 I think, seems to be made of brass, is finished very well and the bayonet is smooth as silk. If you can get one that has a variable aperture that would be helpful.

Fotodiox one with aperture control and tripod adapter is a good one. Focusing requires good eyesight and good light. Stop down one stop for DA*300 and good results are possible. Particularly useful for distant video of say wading birds. With modern sensors you can crop a good lens like the DA*300 to not far short of those shots but there is that crossover distance where optical beats digital cropping.

Yes, I struggle, took a few and this one hit it. I now have a loupe but I need one with dioptre correction really. Lots of shuffling of glasses for me!

I leave the glasses behind (generally because I forgot them!) and use focus peaking!

I though I was getting one with the variable aperture, but no! It is useless on all my best and brightest lenses as they do not have there own aperture ring - so can only use my A and M lenses. Still great fun, but less useful. Was so hoping to put it on the Sigma 120 to 400!
