While I was buying the 17-70mm at SRS on friday they told me that the 2 they had in stock were being sold for £329. They could sell them at this price because they were bought bundled in with some bodies that they bought. I think the next batch they have won't be bought with bodies hence the price rise.

Looks like someone grabbed the last one just before the price rise. I had the second last one from their on friday.

This is about a 1/4 crop from the original.

ISO 560
70mm
f/4.0
1/60

Can you confirm if this is what is expected from this lens ?

Thanks

I too was a bit worried having also read those reviews. The Photozone tests seem to indicate a better sample used though. I went ahead and bit the bullet though knowing that if I got a lemon a warranty was in place to sort it out.

Thanks for the reply.

I purchased this lens from SRS on friday and haven't had a chance to try it much since but from what I've seen so far very impressed

It does seem quite sharp wide open although softening a bit at the long end. But the Bokeh from this lens has really impressed me as has the SDM motor.
