Hi Nimitz, I agree with your points and I am sure all members would submit decent, wonderful shots. The darker side did not enter my head until I read an article concerning uploading images of kids on the net however innocent without their parents premission, a minefield.
Yes Terry, in answer to your question I too would have taken photos, however I would now think twice before uploading them onto the net of strangers kids.
Peter, I am not talking nude shots here, just normal everyday innocent scenes. IMHO these type of shots should be banned, never mind how technicaly brilliant they are. How can a child give permission for these type of studies.
P.S. As a parent I think its a great theme and I am sure we all would submit photographs with pride of our loved ones. I am only trying to point out the pitfalls of uploading images of other peoples children on the net.

Hi Nimitz, Please do not take this the wrong way and I do not wish to throw a damp squid on your topic. However in the times we live and having read a number of articles and comments in photography mags,I now feel uncomfortable photographing children unless its my own grandchildren or friends with their permission, let alone uploading them onto the web. I think its a sad world that this scenario has even made me think careful on what is an innocent topic. What are the views of other forum members.
Cheers

Thanks All for your suggestions the Barbour type is good at being waterproof although I find them a cold jacket in winter unless you wear bulk layers underneath which restricts you.Took Mikew advise on other web sites good reports on Paramo gear for outdoors, the 4x4 is great for getting me off beaten track to shoot the ramblers, bagged a few in my time (with my Pentax of course)
Cheers

Hi All,
Now that winter is almost upon us I need to to buy another winter outdoor jacket. My old Berguas has given up. It needs to be waterproof, windproof and breathable with a decent hood. For general hill walking, rambling while carrying my camera gear backpack.
I have seen good reports on Paramo gear. Any endorsements out there. If not what do other members rely on.
Cheers

I agree with some comments re taking the actual picture during the week of the competition. Not only should it stimulate us constantly in our hobby and add to the enjoyment of gathering images, it will also show an exact snapshot at any given time within our world. Pentaxian days on the other Pentax forum is a good example. Under this guide Ihave only a slight problem with our current copetition, Autumn Colours. Autumn has not arrived fully in my neck of the woods. Maybe up North ?

Cracking 1st shot with catch light in its eyes. Reminds me of an alien from Dr Who.

Hi Guys, Glad to have stimulated some interest and banter re the old stuff. I also now are coming upto the autumn of my years just like our current competition. My first proper camera was a Russian Zorki rangefinder, before my first SLR aPentax K100, remember that one, brilliant.
Cheers. P.S. Anyone want to buy a bus pass.

Hi, Thanks guys, comments much appreciated, yep I need to go into manual instead of auto and use the flash to try and increase my depth of field.
I do not know whats happened re exif detail. I shoot in raw and after I convert to jpeg to upload to this site sometimes this detail disappears.
