I stumbled across this at St Fagans Welsh Museum, South Wales. All buildings were taken brick by brick from their original locations in Wales and rebuilt here.

Well, that tears it! I'm OLD!

I still use the Sekonic light meter and the Yashica Mat camera in the last shot! Two of the three bellows cameras are in my collection.

I also have the Kodak Flash bellows camera in the second to last shot.

Nice photographs youngster!

Clarky,

You're correct!

That's me on the very RIGHT!

I'm actually typing this on an old Remington Rand typwriter and scanning it into this new fangled thingy called the interweb.

Dang!

Have I got my teeth in too?

Just to go along with this whole aged thing, I loaded up my first Spotmatic this morning and slapped on my trusty 50mm 1.4 Takumar. Love what it does with autumn colours.

Keep forgetting to wind the film! 44 years and I've forgotten already!

Evil digital cameras!

Automated smiley! (See, I can learn......)

Martin,

I was embarassed to metion about looking at the back of the camera, but yes! The funny thing is, I did that one time and this old guy (REALLY old guy) said "Gee, do they still show you the picture number in the little red window?"

Don,

TLR's were a dream come true for lens builders - all add-ons came in sets - viewing and taking. Essentially, these were the first Medium Formats - leading to the Bronicas, Hasseblads (sp), Pentax etc. I used Extachrome ASA 64 for 2 1/4 slides. Had the Ansco large format projector. Wow,them was pitchers, Boy!

Hi Guys, Glad to have stimulated some interest and banter re the old stuff. I also now are coming upto the autumn of my years just like our current competition. My first proper camera was a Russian Zorki rangefinder, before my first SLR aPentax K100, remember that one, brilliant.
Cheers. P.S. Anyone want to buy a bus pass.

I have a Zorki 4 and Fed 3, but have not used either for years. They were the first "proper" cameras I owned.

A while back I handled a Zorki 4 - by golly it's a heavy bit of kit! The viewfinder was very small not as good as the Leica III which I think it was based on, is that right or was a Contax rip off? Exceptional value for money.

The Zorki is a Leica copy and the Kiev is a Contax copy.

Both suffer from dreadful ergonomics compared to modern cameras, but they were superb in their day. Both also suffer from very poor quality control, so you might get a good one or one that fails after very little use.

I once has a mint, as-new Zeiss Contax III and that was a thing of rare and special beauty. Utterly wonderful engineering. It finally went to a buyer in Japan. But even the Zeiss versions had trouble with the vertically-running metal shutters, so it was really something to look at more than to use. The Leica shutter design was much simpler and much more reliable.

On the other hand, the Leica lenses were not as good as the Zeiss ones.
Best regards, John
