Update: The Tamron PKA adapter is still available (and I don't think you'll find one cheaper than this!). The 28mm SCMA has gone. Have just been using the Tokina doubler and having second thoughts about getting rid of it. Will post reasons why in another thread.

Cheers,

Jon

Very nice shots (esp 1st and last). The dandelion reminds me of those fibre optic lights that used to change colour that were all the rage in the 70's!

Well it's a wet afternoon so maybe I'll put it to some good use if I get brave enough!

Hmmmm - how easy is that to do? I could be tempted to give it a try and keep it! Do I go in there by unscrewing the bayonnet mounts, or do the elements screw in separately?

Cheers,

Jon

Reaching the end of my Spring clean after being embarassed at how many lenses I'd managed to amass over the years.... Getting close to being able to fit them all into one case now!

Let me know if you are interersted in any of the following:

(1) Pentax SMCA 28/2.8 £50 incl special delivery within UK

This lens is in excellent condition cosmetically, flawless optically, and everything works as it should. It comes with a rubber hood, Pentax front cap and PK fit (non original) rear cap. It's a neat little lens that is nicely made (a step up from the 50mm SMCA for example) and a great standard length on crop sensor cameras. Nice and sharp and keeps fringing under control well too. Some minor barrel distortion which is easily correctable in the occasional shots where it becomes an issue. Main reason for sale is that it doesn't get used so much now I have a 31.

(2) Tamron PKA adapater - £50 incl recorded delivery within UK

I've ended up with one more of these than I need. This one is in perfect working order (I've checked) but shows some signs of use, as per the photographs below. Comes as is but will be well protected when posted:

(3) Tokina PKA doubler (2X teleconverter) - free if you make a charity donation to a cause of your choice

This came with a lens I bought recently, and I have no need for it. It comes with a pouch and caps, and is in excellent condition apart from one minor mark on body (see below). It has the electrical connections to enable aperture to be controlled from the camera body, but supports manual focus only. It is reasonably large, which leads me to think it probably has seven elements rather than four as per cheaper converters, and from what I can gather from the web, has a rather good reputation. Will post free (recorded) to anyone prepared to make a charity donation of at least £5 - but preferably more!

Have fun Barrie. Looks like this weekend's weather is going to oblige in terms of testing the weather sealing!

Gone....

There may be one or two more yet over the next week or two, but nothing as exotic as this was.

Next up is likely to be the closest I've got to a "thrifty thirty", which is probably about the right price for it too.....

Thanks both.

I already use an R72 filter with K100DS, but shutter speeds inevitably get below hand-hold level unless you whack the ISO up.

So I'm thinking of replacing the filter in front of the sensor with R72 as the camera will then function as Peter has described.

I can't see why a company that offers this service with the ist D shouldn't be able to do it with the DL, DS, GX1L, or for that matter the K110D. But as they don't know much about Pentax bodies they can't commit...

On reflection, I think Lance has it spot on. At some point, I think APS C may only exist for the mirrorless hybrids. Pentax need to keep some differentiation given they can't realistically take on Canon or Nikon

Which means I reckon that what Pentax really need to do is make...

... a full frame DIGITAL MX please!

Small, light, tough, elegant, no bells and whistles. I'd be there....

NO! not same as DA35. It's the same as the FA35, which is a great lens (see the review on Photozone), but I think people who've used both reckon the DA Ltd is even better.
