They are already stumbling. Take a look at their recent sales figures.

David, we do not know what the future will bring, but saying that Apple is stumbling is a bit overstated….. Sales are not growing as before, and profit margins are lower ("only" 37% :shock. The fact that they produce "premium" products and a lot of the growth is happening in cheaper categories, might explain some of that, plus the fact that they have not come out with something wildly innovative after the iPad.

You might not like their "closed environment", but just think how much of what we know today id driven by innovation created by Apple….. the iPod, iTunes, Appstore, iPhone, iPad….. whether you like it or not, we all benefit from what they created. And I think it is right they price their products at a premium.

back to topic: if you just buy a tablet for a task, then probably anyone will do. But if you like your computer to be in sync with your phone and tablet, if you want to stream music, films, photos to any device, etc…. Then it is much easier with an Apple environment just out of the box. You can do the same with any other system, but t requires a lot more work….
Spot on. I have a mac desktop, iPod and iPad, as well as an Android phone and Kindle Fire. The seamless and painless way that the Apple devices integrate and work together is brilliant. There are other great tablet devices out there too, but I like the Apple OS better than the Android environment I have on either my Samsung Galaxy or my Kindle Fire. It just seems to work first time every time (so far....).

That said, I really don't think I'd use any of the tablets as a serious photo storage device other, perhaps, than when away from home and wanting to use it as an emergency back up or to get stuff up to the web.

Hmm..... not sure where you've seen that, all seems to be going ahead in March from their web site Link
Ah - two different shows. The London Imaging Live was being marketed as the replacement to Focus, and was to take place in March but has now been postponed. This one in Birmingham is news to me. I see a few other bigger names have yet to join in too....Sony and Tamron for example.

If you don't mind an old-fashioned approach, and if you're using a lens with aperture ring, you could do what I did - set of three Vivitar extension tubes bought from West End Cameras on Tottenham Court Road in mint condition for the princely sum of £5 incl caps......

Perhaps we could set up a stand at London Imaging Live to get rid of it all...but then there'd be a Pentax presence...scrap that thought then

I agree with John though - Focus ended up being a pretty drab and increasingly pointless affair; I certainly wouldn't have gone again and don't think a lack of presence at these kind of shows is much to worry about. The fact that the March show has been postponed and is pencilled in for October perhaps suggests that bigger players than Ricoh were also lukewarm in their support.

Come on Ricoh.... Premote your Your Brand.....
I think a big glossy included with Amateur Photographer recently is likely to be much more effective than a stand at a trade show barely anyone goes to (in comparison)!

I like all the shots in this thread, but I'm really liking that last black and white one. Excellent.

I think that's a photograph I'd want to print. It's too good to simply exist electronically!

Wonderful light giving great warmth to those images. I'd definitely be doing more landscapes if I lived there!

Taken through the train window on the way between London and Leeds just before Christmas. The MX-1 is perfect to carry when I don't want to/can't take the dSLR with me:

A few photos from a Christmas morning walk around Alderley Edge (which I recently saw referred to as "the Chipping Norton of the North!". All taken with the K-5IIs and 18-135:

You used to be able to scramble around some of the caves around here when i was growing up:
