Pentax MZ-S par Kris Lockyear, on ipernity
Very nice. Have you checked if your copy has the brass or plastic cog in the mirror mechanism?

They look very good. I had much worse results last year at the Oceanographic in Valencia, using my K-3 and HD FA 35/2. The K-3 III seems to have much better noise control and also superior AF (neither of which is a surprise).

I'm glad this has sold. I was very tempted and if it hadn't been for Brexit then I would have bought it.

Sounds like the AF is working perfectly but the focusing screen is out of place and needs to be shimmed to get it to the right place.

I have read that the non-faulty replacement solenoid can no longer be bought new so it has to be scavenged from a donor camera.

The HDR effect seems quite over the top to me. As with many things (contrast, saturation, sharpening) it's a tool that's best used in moderation.

A price and some photos would probably help things along.

The P30 is a nice reliable camera and manual Tokina primes are usually very good quality.

The KP was discontinued some time ago so that would explain the price increase for the remaining units. Park Cameras still have some but the body-only price is much higher than the body plus kit lens price they had a few weeks ago, but that seems to be gone. You could give them a call and check if they're expecting more in.

Current APS-C models are quite polarised price-wise: the K-70 is a good price but the newly-released K3 III is very expensive. The K-70 does suffer from aperture block failure though some people say it's far less common than in the K-30, K-50, K-S1 and K-S2.

To be honest, as a user of both Pentax and Fujifilm mirrorless, I find the Fujifilm system is overall much better for photographing babies and small children. I know this is a Pentax forum and my K-3 is not the most up-to-date Pentax model, but the system is just not as well adapted to that kind of photography as some others are. A tilting screen, that some Pentax models have, would certainly help, but it's not the only factor.

Really the only difference is the mark II has baked-in noise reduction in the raw files. Some say that's fine, others say it's OTT and degrades the level of detail in images. I suspect that the truth lies somewhere in the middle and that it doesn't really matter, so whatever you can get for the best price.

For anyone interested the K 200/4 is considerably better than the later M model - it doesn't have all the nasty fringing wide open.
