I was in Italy recently for a 10 day holiday, the temperature varied between 36°C and 42°C and after lugging the 'big' camera and a couple of lenses around Venice and Florence I gave up for Rome and Naples and went for the phone camera. I shot in RAW and processed the images at home.
Initially I found it hard to get the shots I wanted, but after a little while I got used to it and was quite pleased with the results.
May not give up on the 'big' camera, but the for holiday pics, the iPhone will do nicely.
Some of the Rome pics are here, maybe not professional standard, but I was impressed by the quality that was achievable.

Sounds like you might have been there around the same time I was.

One of the main reasons I love travelling is the chance to take photos of new and different surroundings so I would never give up my proper camera for phone.

Well that was silly - a bit of black electrical tape works just as well, is almost invisible and 100% reversible.

Good luck with the sale. I've read the 24-90mm is a good lens and very useful on FF.

I use my phone, a Samsung with a 64MP main camera, when I need to and in some conditions it produces better images than a DSLR or mirrorless camera, even a FF one, at least when looking at the image at normal size on a normal screen. However, I know that looking more closely it won't stand up to scrutiny, plus it doesn't allow anything like the control I want over the image.

In general, people who don't know about photography or enjoy the process will get better images from a modern phone than they would from a badly-used ILC or even from a well-used compact. I have a little waterproof Panasonic and the image quality from my phone blows it away, but my phone isn't waterproof. I'm glad that people who don't use an ILC get better images these days than they would have ten or more years ago, but that isn't enough for me.

I've produced some images I'm very happy with on my last few phones but none of them has been a replacement for an ILC.

I'm not aware that there would be any reason a lens would perform better in monochrome than in colour, except of course if it has bad colour fringing, but that's more "avoid colour" rather than something especially good in B&W.

It's very hard to get rid of fungal spores. Like bacteria, they're pretty much everywhere and the trick is to not give them an environment suitable for growth (like a dark camera bag).

The reference seems to be LH875-02.

Sigma Norway have it listed but no stock. Still, you could contact them and try to order but I'd try SRS or Sigma UK first: https://www.sigma-imaging.no/lens-hood-lh875-02

As a last resort there's always this download and print one: http://www.lenshoods.co.uk/hoods/Sigma-20mm-f-1.8-EX-DG.php

The best option is the HD DA 16-50mm f/2.8 - it's very expensive but your only option if you need WR. Avoid the old SDM one as the motors are very dodgy and the optics sub-par. That leaves the Sigma 17-50mm f/2.8 which is a wonderful lens though not WR. The Tamron rquivalent is also good but with worse build quality, screw-drive AF and QC problems, so check focusing and de-centring if buying. If a slower lens is an option then the DA 16-85mm is excellent - great range, very sharp, good colour and contrast.

Excellent work as always. Perhaps one or two after oversaturated for my taste but I'm viewing on my phone when I'd normally visit the forum from my laptop, so maybe just the screen difference.

Good to see you back on the forum.

To be fair, they're just pushing you to have good security on your external doors, which is not a bad thing to have. Investing in bringing your home up to the standard required by the insurance could pay dividends later by making it much harder to burgle.

This happens to a lot of M and P series cameras as the metal used for the mechanism is just too soft and gets worn out. It's not worth fixing I think. P30s are good cameras in general and go for very low prices as they lack the classic looks of the ME Super or K1000 even though they're just as good. You should be able to get a working replacement for less than thirty quid.
