"..soft grads are better suited to shooting landscapes with broken horizons as they don't noticeably darken objects like buildings or trees. However, only around a third of the filter is coated with its full density before fading to transparent. This can be a problem, as usually the brightest part of the sky will be just above the horizon where a soft grad is at its weakest. Therefore - to avoid this strip of horizon from overexposing - it may be necessary to align the filter lower in the holder, overlapping the ground, which is undesirable. In contrast, 'hard' grads are designed so the full strength of their specified density is spread over a greater proportion of the coated area. While this makes them less forgiving should the filter be poorly aligned with the horizon, they do allow you to reduce the brightness of the sky with greater accuracy than a soft grad."

By the way, your thread heading might not attract many responses as it doesn't really make it clear what you want. You could re-post in the Classified section yourself with a 'Want to buy....' and ask John Riley to take this post down?

Your concerns are ones that a number of people have raised in this Forum, a number of times. The consensus seems to be that Pentax as a brand will continue, and we all hope will continue to be attached to ground breaking, high quality, well priced DSLRs. Looks like Pentax plan to introduce a medium format DSLR later this year, maybe early next, but at the same time Hoya, the parent company, send mixed messages about the future. Guess we all just have to hope and keep our fingers crossed
It's worth browsing the Forum for other similar threads; there's certainly been at least one on this topic in the past month or so.
In the mean time, keep the faith!!
