I did email asking about their pricing compared to SRS/ Park Cameras etc, and making the comment that to see the prices could put people off Pentax brand etc. the reply I got shows they haven't engaged with the question:

I emailed them pointing out that they have the wrong lens shown under the heading 'DA 55-300'. I also received the same inane reply.

I got back to them pointing out I was doing them a favour; they replied;

"Thank you for contacting the Pentax Store.

We do understand.

Unfortunately, we are unable to assist you with this product inquiry at the online store. For detailed product information please contact Pentax for assistance at:

I hope an adult from Pentax reads the threads in this Forum and takes this on board

Thanks for that Matt. In the past I've suffered from BBA so have a very large collection of NiCad and NiMh batteries, so always some to hand ready charged.

Now acquiring a growing number of Eneloops and equivalent other brands!

Thanks everyone. The batteries I tested the flash with are NiMh; think I'll stick with those and ignore the instructions! After all, I suspect NiMh weren't around when the AF 160 flash was born?

"Two 1.5v AA size alkaline or manganese penlight batteries". Guess that shows the units age - late '70's through to early '90's.

That said, I've already tested it using NiMh cells with no problems; only read the manual afterwards

Just bought an AF 160.

Under 'Power Source' the manual states '..rechargeable NiCad type not usable). There's no explanation as to why.

Can anyone tell me why, please, and what the consequences would be if I did use NiCd (or preferably NiMh)?

Thanks!

Two things to consider here.

1 Unfortunately there are a lot of fake Sandisk cards in the market. Not an absolute proof of origin but in my experience the fake Sandisk cards do not have a serial number printed on them - genuine one's always do.

2 If a card has let you down once that's once too often! If I have a problem with an SD card it either (a) gets replaced under warranty, or (b) immediately gets down-graded to non-critical use, ie in an MP3 player, etc. It never see's the inside of a camera ever again!!!!

Warranties can be an issue with grey imports, as often the warranty only applies in the market the goods were originally intended for. Check and see if the goods have an international warranty. Pentax has confirmed to me that it honours international warranties.

You'll find companies like Purely Gadgets often offer their own warranty in lieu of the manufacturers, especially where the manufacturers warranty is country specific, so you would have to send the item back to the retailer for repair. Who would actually then carry out that repair is an equally big issue. Purely Gadgets fudged the issue when I asked them this a few years ago with regard to a camera I was looking to buy.

That said, if the company is UK based I believe all the usual consumer protection laws apply - Sale of Goods Act, etc. (Stand to be corrected here)

As always, caveat emptor!!

Pm about what??? I wanna know too!!!
Don't panic! PM sent to keep politics, etc away from the main forum. We've seen too many heated exchanges that have little to do with Pentax!

PM sent.
