It is bad for your wallet.
The most used phrase is "buy both".
I have been there and couldn't afford the T-shirt after a while.

If you want to save time rather than wasting a few months, looking round CPF, just get a titanium light from Rob link. He's in the UK.

For macro work and ultimate flexibility you'd be hard pressed to beat a Benbo tripod - I'm a recent convert after many years with a Manfrotto 055 and I wish I'd bought one ages ago.
Which Benbo model did you go for? I was looking at the Manfrotto 055XPROB, (or the carbon fibre equivalent), but what you've written about your experience, etc, has got me thinking.

My understanding is that fast processors and huge amounts of memory are not essential for photo-editing, but are necessary for video-editing (together with large/fast hard discs.)

That said, plenty of fast memory will help with pp'ing large files, but I think it's the graphic card/monitor combo that's most important, coupled with a Colormunki or similar for calibration of your monitor and printer.

The useable maximum memory capability of a PC is a function of motherboard and operating system.

I know there are some Forum members who are in the computer business, so hoepfully one of them will be along soon to give you the best answer. Also, I know this question has come up from time to time, so a search of previous posts may help as well.

Thank you johnX. That might be worth a try, but I suppose it would have to be a business account, because you're not allowed two personal accounts. One business and one personal, only.
Well, mine are both personal

Hullo and welcome to the Forum!

Don't have a K-m myself, but I understand a firmware update helped reduce it's appetite for batteries.

Make sure you have the latest firmware.

Also, check out some of the K-m related threads on this Forum. There has been some discussion about the K-m and best choice of batteries.
