If you bought your camera from a Pro dealer it'll have a 2 year warranty. Not sure what the situation is re non-Pro dealers.Thanks for all the help everyone. Follow this link, navigate down the page, and you'll find a link to download a manual for the K110D.
That said, a 2GB card should be SD and work ok in the camera.
Try putting a 2GB card in the camera and formatting it, then try again. The instructions for formatting a card are in the manual.
If that doesn't work, reset the camera to factory default settings. Could be the previous owner has set it up wrong.

Another vote for the 17-70.
Probably use it 90% of the time, which keeps making me feel guilty about the 1000's of £'s worth of other lens in my bag!

This morning I saw another post where the OP was looking forward to a firmware upgrade enabling his Canikon to focus at f8.
