How old is the camera? If still under warranty I'd claim. Unless you've managed to hit it against something it shouldn't fall off = manufacturing defect.

Johnson's may be able to advise/supply part?

Why not use the built-in timer?

Or is it that you want to trigger the K3 remotely, and if so, over what distance?

Canary Wharf update...

I had a couple of hours to spare this afternoon, so hopped on the DLR for a quick mooch around Canary Wharf. About two minutes after setting up my tripod, I was aware of a hi-vis bib to my right.

"Good evening, sir," said the security guard. "Is that a Pentax? Which one? K-5 IIs? Ah, I have a K-30 - absolutely brilliant camera, love it to bits..."

He then started to tell me about his favoured locations for shooting within the Canary Wharf complex, but never once questioned my purpose.

Not necessarily the conversational direction I'd anticipated...
Well trained security staff! Neither pro-togs nor terrorists use Pentax!

I take it you have tried sliding the little grey lock back
I've been thinking, (dangerous I know)

Is the battery actually in far enough to allow the lock to come over and close the battery door?

If so I think it's jammed by the solid registration tag to the right of the circled battery terminal.

It's this that should prevent the battery going in the wrong way, by not allowing it to go down far enough for the lock operate.
Just looked at my camera and came to the same conclusion. I'm of the view that it might be down to a self-tapping screw in the end of the battery, a pair of pliers, brute force and luck, (hoping the screw doesn't short out the battery), then a new battery.

Business cards are thinner than credit cards and quite stiff. Good luck!

The rules allow you to send lithium batteries installed in a camera.
and if I read the Royal Mail 'rules' properly, together with two spare batteries

What really gets me is that the 'rules' that RM have conjured up pertain to air-travel restrictions.

Anyone here had to argue about carrying batteries for their cameras through an airport recently?

Built in flash won't discharge in Green mode if camera decides the lighting levels are high enough to do without flash.
