Was it Rocket Ron Haslam who once did a lap of Donnington using just his right arm? Beat most peoples times using both arms

A nice set, reasonably sharp too, they look a little underexposed to me TBH. I used to shoot bike racing with a Pentax MX and various manual 300mm lenses, so I know how difficult it can be.

Thanks Roger, I'll remember that, I still have no idea why they abandoned the nest, I still think I see the adult pair visiting the gardeb feeders.

Interesting to see them feeding seed to the young ones like that. I had a family in a nest box, but once they were able to fly they took off somewhere else, haven't seen them since, but they may use the box again, they often do

It's a shot worth keeping and opening it in another window it looks a lot better. If you can recover the highlights it should sharpen up.
Oddly enough they seem to be feeding more on fatballs, but that could just be the weather, there was some activity in the apple tree earlier I think they were feeding insects.

I tried recovering the highlights but the neck of the bird on the right is beyond the capability of ACR, it doesn't help thet the DoF is so shallow either, you don't get much with f/2.8 on a 135mm lens at close quarters. Should have tried ISO 400 @ f/4 or 800 @ f/5.6 but time was limited. Better luck next time I hope.

Thanks for all the comments.

I might have known DA*300, there is no substitute

The technical aspects don't matter as much to a birdwatcher/animal lover who would find the behaviour and interactions of the birds utterly fascinating... sometimes you don't need to sweat the details.
Thanks Don, I've just had another look at the RAW file in ACR I think I've blown it

We have a nest box on the end of the garage gable wall but with the garden been raised and having a flagged walkway halfway up I doubted anything would use it, especially considering that the entrance hole is at head height!
So I was surprised to see a pair of Great Tits had chosen to use it, yesterday I was making my way past it to fill up the bird table and feeders at the top of the garden and could hear chiruping from within

It must be a tad warmer over your way John as I've not seen ours leaving the nest yet.
Hi Alan, I'm not so sure about it being warmer, I've had the heating on the past couple of evenings. It's strange they really don't seem that timid of humans, I could get within 10' of them while they were feeding their young.

I totally cannot recall what movie this made me think of... but... anyhow...
interesting shot but the overall softness and blown highlights and other aberrations kinda loses on the photo/technical side of things, but for somebody interested in the subject matter, it is still a nice shot.
Fair comment, needed a smaller aperture really but struggling in limited lighting. I never noticed the blown highlights but yes they're present, I may try a little recovery in PP later/
