FS: Sigma AF 24-70mm f/2.8 EX DG macro, mint, cased. This lens has had very little use, it always seems to get left at home since I have a DA*16-50/2.8 so is looking for a good home. Optically/mechanically flawless complete with hood, original lens caps, case and a centre pinch lens cap, I even have the box somewhere, pictures on request, asking £250 firm.

TIA, John

Well I'd really like a DA 17-70/4 but it could never replace my DA* 16-50/2.8 and it seems a little OTT to have the two. Maybe I should sell the Sigma EX 24-70/2.8 as it hardly ever gets used and put the money to a DA 17-70. I'd really like one of these: Tamron AF 70-300mm f/4-5.6 SP Di VC USD, but they're not available for Pentax
Oh! and a K3:

Sorry, on a RAW file I use the following sharpening as a starting point:

Sharpening 100
Radius 1
Detail 30
Masking 60

I use Lightroom bit Adobe Camera RAW should have the same settings.

On JPEG files I use either no sharpening as the camera does a decent enough job or use 30/1/30/60 to bring out a little more detail.
Like I said, it's up to the individual how they process their images.

You lost me with that comment, Dan Yes they are Jpegs. almost straight out the camera. They have had exposure tweaked. Cropped and levels set. That is my skill level im afraid.
That explains a lot, there is probably some in-camera sharpening, depending what your default settings are.

It's the over-sharpening that caused the noise !
Maybe they're jpegs straight from the camera and already sharpened, I generally only work with RAW, besides the basic advice is still relevant, it's up to the individual how they process their images.

Hi Will,

I've only applied a little de-noise to the bakground, maybe I've been a liitle too restrained. I'm back off lunch now, I'll have another go when I get home, very little software to play with here
