Just the rest of today to go, only two entries! Somebody must shop in supermarkets, maybe even take a camera in there? Here's your chance to enter a winning photo, otherwise it's a two horse race!

One very important point is to check the viewfinder dioptre adjustment. Some photographer try to change it till the subject looks sharp, but the correct method is to point the camera at a blank wall or sky, even defocus the lens. Then adjust the dioptre until the etched lines in the viewfinder are sharp and the display in the viewfinder is sharp. Then our eyes will be relaxed when looking at the focusing screen and judging the point of focus will be easier.

Live View is even more accurate. Press the centre OK button of the four way controller and the view will be magnified so very accurate focusing can be achieved. A half press on the shutter release will restore the full frame image. This works even better when using a tripod,

Basically you are seeing what little bit of red can be shown as all the other colours have been removed. I would first convert that to monochrome. It needs a closer focus setting, which may well look out of focus through the viewfinder. It also needs a more defined subject to practice on. I would suggest an old black and white timber building, or anything with lots of sharp details. A museum, a set of houses or shops, just something inherently sharper than your landscape.

Then of course you need the light to have some IR in it, and as we can't see the IR light then that is variable. Try a bright sunny day with blue sky.

That should give you a starting point that you will be able to work with.

It would be helpful if you could post an example of an image?

Meanwhile, IR light will focus at a different distance to visible light and not many lenses are corrected for this. Some lense have an IR correction mark on the lens so this can be accounted for. Focus normally and then move the point of focus slightly closer and see if that helps.

Perhaps take a little time and see which lenses you like using? Then when you have a better idea of the best ones for you, the rest could happily go to eBay or a Pentax forum. Selling from Canada to here is not impossible, but the shipping is more expensive and it does take longer.

If you do post anything for sale here then it is perhaps clearer to list each item on its own thread, unless it's several small items that can be condensed into one thread. It's up to you.

I did actually mean the 150mm f/3.5, a slip of the brain cells!

Both lenses now souced, one review completed and in the works. Great support from PU members!

What can I say, but thanks!

I can see deepest Lancashire is a Black Hole where gravitational forces act on lenses, dragging them beyond the event horizon to somewhere safe...
