The clamp button is not to stop it creeping it's so that you can simulate a manual focus feel.

As a lot of people like to use macro lenses in manual focus mode Pentax provided a little focus damping screw on both the FA50 and FA100 so that the user could set the "feel" of the focus.

If you use it on autofocus you should have it loose so that it doesn't put a strain on the auto focus mechanism.

...but then the grip's £100, pushing the price up to £849 - still better at SRS.

Dan
Sorry Dan, I didn't notice the grip.

Doubtful that I have anything you might want John. Let's see... An 18-35mm FAJ lens (which would work as a nice super wide on your MZ-5N, now I think about it), a Sigma 24mm MF, erm, think that's it at the mo.

Dan
Hi Dan, thanks for the info.
I allready have a Cosina 19-35 zoom that I used to use on my MZ5 it even has an aperture ring so can be used on my old MX too so I probably don't need the 18-35. Now if you're selling it for £10 I might be interested as it's a nicer colour than my silver Cosina at least on the Z1P. Cheers.

I've only ever bought one lens new from abroad, that was the 77m Ltd from Canada and I had no problems. I did have to pay about £50 duty when it arrived though so you have to add that on.

I've never bought anything expensive from Hong Kong but I don't know why it would be any worse than buying from any other country.

It's alway a gamble on Ebay no matter where the item is from so it's up to you what you do.

Hi I've noticed a reasonably cheap DA21mm F3.2 for sale on ebay 2nd hand ( missing the front cap mind you ) and as I've recently sold my "M" series 20mm I thought this might be a good replacement.

I used the 20mm F4 a lot because it was small and you could just stick it in your pocket.

Any thoughts ? I'd rather have the FA20 but I haven't seen one on sale for ages.

Any thoughts on this lens, I'd be attempting to use it on my quirky DS. Anyone got one for less than £200 ?

The DS just doesn't focus consistently with any fast lenses that I've got.
Which is odd indeed. The DS I have works great with the SMC-F 50/1.4 lens...

Maybe the focus IS out and that it shows up worse with fast lenses Use the focus test chart and camera on tripod aimed at 45 degrees (see other threads on the subject or PM me for more help!)

Matt
Hi Matt my 50mm F1.4 is usually ok so who knows whats going on though I normally have it on F4 all the time. I could try using the 50 and 43 wide open to see how they get on. I was just looking at some photos I took with the 43mm on holiday in February and they're stunning colour wise etc it's just the focus that's not perfect.

It's ok sometimes just inconsistent. I don't think there's anything wrong with the lens as the FA43 and FA35 are the same.

Yes you can adjust the DS focus point in the menu, I'd forgotten that and might try it (thanks for reminding me ) but it might put it out with all the other lenses that work ok.

The DS just doesn't focus consistently with any fast lenses that I've got.

Cheers.
